350 Rem Mag ?

Wednesday I'm going to take a look at a Rem 600 Mohawk in 350 RM. It is a made up rifle with a standard 600 350 RM barrel that still has pock marks(tiny) where the rib studs were removed, Mohawk action, standard(not laminated) Rem 600 or Mohawk stock with cracked wrist(repairible) and old metal bottom metal. Barrel condition unknown but will take bore scope along. It has an old Weaver 4x on it.

Any thoughts on what its worth?

Thanks

Maybe $1000 if it was in better condition. Vent rib missing and broken stock knock the price down. I'm no expert on the 600's but to me $650-$750 and I try to get it on the $650 range. I may be way off but that's where I would be comfortable. Here again its worth what your willing to pay.

its not original. its not worth what an original would bring. maybe 1/2 or a little more.

let us know.

I own multiple 600 and 660 Magnums in both .350 and 6.5 Rem. Mag., from what you are describing there is no way that I would pay even close to$1,000 for that gun!
Pock marks where the rib screws were removed and not filler screws installed, probably filled with epoxy or some other material, cracked stock, old weaver scope that may or may not be good.
You didn't mention if it has the sights on it, the metal floorplate is aftermarket and an upgrade to the nylon floorplate they came with, make sure a dollar bill slides down the barrel channel to the receiver, it should be a free-floating barrel unless someone full length bedded it, also the Magnums have a factory bedded recoil lug and a tang support which the none Magums don't have. NBD if the dollar bill doesn't slide down the barrel channel, that can be easily remedied with a little sanding and sealing which will improve accuracy.
My advice to you is to look around at auctions or a private sale of a 600 ,350 Mag. that is in decent condition, $1200 or less would be a good price and expect to pay $1700 or more from a gun dealer. One more thing to consider, there is "ZERO" collector value to that gun, which is why a most people buy them today, plus they are getting expensive to shoot with ammo costing $100 or more a box!
Another line of thought, a really nice 600 Mohawk is around $800, if you really want that gun for hunting I would think that $550 would be Max. and then just hope that it's accurate!
Like William Suter stated, it's worth what you are willing to pay, just don't pay too much for it, the value isn't really there!

I've been shooting a 600 for 59 years and have studied them a little. I'm looking at the 350 RM as a hunter, not a collector piece. I'm a 358 cal nut, I have a Rem 760 in 35 Rem stashed in a safe in N WI incase I want to fly up for a deer hunt, a Rem 721 rebored to 35 Whelen, I got to spend the day with the smith as he did the work. I had a 358 Norma Mag but somebody made me an offer that was just too good.

Ammo isn't a problem, brass is easily made from 7mm RM and I just picked up a batch of that off the ground at the range, some free brass. Bullets, no biggy, I have 225 Sierra's and 250gr RN Hornady on the shelf. So I'm ready to go if I get a good deal on it

I just haven't looked at big bores but n a while and this is kind of an odd piece.. so I'm looking for a little guidance.

What I was basically trying to relay to you is that if you were going to spend anywhere close to 1K on that gun, why not buy a complete original 600 for just a few hundred more.
Here's another thing, I'm from Pa and have often heard that out West the .350 Magnum 600 and 660's are highly sought after as scabbard guns for bear, and that they sell for quite a bit more out there, don't know that for sure though.
I reload also and have a stash of both the .350 and 6.5 Mag. Remington factory brass along with a pile of 150 and 200gr Rem. Core-Lokt bullets, also have formed a bunch of it from 7mm RM brass that I "donated" to a guy who needed it, he wasn't getting any of my stash! LOL!
I mainly shoot the 200gr bullets, there is definitely a noticeable recoil difference between shooting the 150gr bullets and 250 gr bullets out of that gun.

That was a fair price for that gun, if it's a decent shooter I'm sure you will be happy with it since you specified that you want it strictly for hunting, I'll trade accuracy for pretty any day of the year, hope you enjoy that little carbine that you now own!
OH, and make sure there are some people around when you shoot it, the muzzle blast and the fireball on overcast days sure does get their attention! LOL!!!

Yup, one week after the ffl gets it and you fill out the 4473. Kind of a pain but it does give you time to round up dies and ammo.

He's in NM like me. The libs got this through last year. They started at 14 days, but the few conservatives in the legislature talked them down to 7 days and got an exemption for those with a concealed carry permit. Incrementalism.

That's crazy.

So a woman with a stalker better hope he doesn't try to kill her within the first week.
Yes. She would kindly ask the crazed attacker to wait one week while the state determines that it's okay for her to defend herself. Ain't communism grand? I just encourage everyone to get a pistol and and a concealed carry license, but that's more hurdles to jump through.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I was told, that if you have a concealed carry permit in Okla that was issued after a certain date, which I have forgotten, that you didn't have to fill out a 4473. I renewed mine a month to soon so I still have to do the paper work. I just looked and mine is due for renewal in 10/26 so it must have been sometime in 2021. Or, its not true?????
