Anyone hunt this land? Willow Ranch and all. My buddies and I went out there last weekend, got there right about sunrise, we didn't even hear a Yote. Is that a bad sign?

K Thanks.

We actually heard them yippin today so I guess we doing better. Still didn't see them though.

Did see some great big white owls, they were in this hole coulda grabed one when they flew out they were so close. And some kinda black fox looking thing with a brown under belly. Still gotta look that one up though.

Remms, I hunt around Tucson not familar with that unit though. It is not a bad sign you didn't here any coyotes, it would have been easier to locate them if they were making some noise. But just because you didn't hear any does not mean there wasn't any around. I would still set up and call I bet you would get some to come in.

Well I've searched for almost 2 days, and can't figure out what these black animals were I saw. I'm not really familiar with this area, so if anyone knows something that matches about that description, don't be afraid to speak up /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Did figure out the owls were Barn Owls though. Much whiter than all the pictures I saw though.

Remms, you probubly saw a quatamunday ( not how it is spelled but how it sounds) thear are a lot of dogs in that area (usualy) lots of water and plenty of food. watch for tracks on and crossing the roads and around the water tanks .If you live in tucson make a trip out to the dezert musiam. thay have all the animals living in the sanoran dezert. Thats wear we live. Good luck Kevin Maker of K-Kalls

37B, Willow Springs Ranch. Yes there are plenty of predators and even hunters there. Look for sign. While driving in look for coyote dropping on the Willow Springs road. The droppings and easily seen even at 30-40 mph. Stop when you cross the small drainages bisecting the road and look for tracks in the sand. There are several side roads you can check out, only at a slower pace. There are several cattle tanks throughout the area, check around them for sign also. Try using a howler or open reed call (early and or late in the day) and see if you can get the coyotes to respond. Many times they will. I’ve even heard that there is a bobcat or two in the area.

The 1st of September dove season opens and a lot of dove hunters use the area. October 10th quail season opens and quail hunters use the area. Calling can be done but not easily. Later in the season it gets a little less crowded.

Tucson is home to the Southern Arizona Wildlife Callers. I understand there will be a calling seminar at the October meeting. The meetings are free of charge and you are welcome to attend. Club information is available at www.soazwildlifecallers.org
