I live in eastern NC, and considering a 3D suit. I have been looking at the Cabelas Ghileaf and their TC'S suits, thinking they may be good suits for hunting in the east. Do any of you guys have any experience with either of these suits, or any other 3D suits?

3d if matched properly to your surroundings i think
will make you invisible if you stay still. The key is matching
it to your surroundings.the cabelas website does a lousy job
of this .this is a perfect example of thier wetlands gillie
shown here it appears to be 10 shades darker than the dries swampgrass next to it ..Might as well wear jeans .

so if you think you can match this stuf up with whats around you most of the time than i say go for it. It is pricy.
If not stick with mossy oak breakup and be still.

Check out the ASAT Camo. Stuff works well. THey sell in in cloth clothing, or a die cut 3-d mesh suit as well. The stuff looks like it would never work, until you use it in the field. Ive had mine for three years now, and have noticably seen more game wearing it that with other stuff.

My thought on this is as follows. With a ghille suit, animals will look at you and try to figure out why that big clump of vegetation that wasnt there yesterday is there today, rather than not even notice you at all. JMHO. But, if I had my choice, Id use a ghille over 2-d fabric anyday. Hope that helped some-Mike.

Varmonter,

Have you seen Cabela's Ghilleaf suits? They look pretty good in the Catalog. The picture above that you posted is their waterfowl suit, which I am not interested in. I agree with you that it doesn't match the surrounding very well.

I second ASAT. Like you said, it looks too light in color but WORKS. It works in the wide open and in the brush. I have the 3D mesh suit and like it as I can wear it over anything.

my point exactly. The suit looks good in the catalog.
the waterfowl suit is a perfect example of camo worn in the wrong place..

I own a Rancho Safari gillie and it works well for me. I have the jery flauge with burlap light weigth jacket with a hood. You can see it in my avatar picure.

Good luck!

I was given for the bday 6 years ago a leafy 3d lightweight suit and have no complaints with it. Fits over everything and has fooled many game animals over the years. They used to cost $100.00 but now I've seen them for much less than that. Make sure your face is covered.

check out the mirage site @ www.miragewear.com , it does come in scentlok, i hunt in central nc over in butner. i have one of the original 3d suits from about 8 years ago, it still works good, i screwed some hunters up on saturday. i was on the side of the walkway on brickhouse road when they were walking in. i had already setup along side in some brush . i let them get right beside me when i spoke up and said hello. at first i think they !@#$ them selves then they asked what i was wearing. they said they would have not seen me if i had not said anything. i did hear two yotes and found plenty of tracks.
