I am looking to get a new AR, in the not-to-distant future.
It will be to replace the one I previously had (and had to let go).

Anyway...The original AR I had, I had installed a Nikon M223 mount (the "standard" one, not the one with the 20mm rise)...and a Nikon Prostaff 5 3x9x40BDC scope.

I have a 3x9x50 scope on my bolt gun. And, am very used to it...having used it for about 15 yrs.

I am wondering (and can't seem to find any info).....if using a M223 mount, on a flattop Picatinny AR-15...is it possible to use a 3x9x50 scope? Or does that mount not have enough height to be used with a 50mm scope?

I dont know how much variance there is between manufactures but I have a 50mm Vortex mounted in a Nightforce mount and still have room under the bell of the scope. I would think that you would be fine with the Nikon mount.

It will have more than enough. The mount is pretty high to begin with to account for the straight comb of the AR...you'll be fine.

Thanks for the replies, fellas!!
I thought maybe there would be enough room. But, I couldn't recall how much room there was last time (with the 40mm)...and thought I would ask, before I spent the money.
