40 s&w through a 10mm

I've heard some that have, but I would not try it. If I want to shoot .40 cal in my Glock 20SF I'll buy another Lone Wolf barrel for it. When you reload, if you want soft shooting 10mm rounds, just down load them. When you want to pick it back up for back country carry, you load proper for it.

Only in a moonclipped revolver. I wouldn't do it in a semi auto.

If you are just looking to reduce recoil JBinMT is givin' good advice.

I have both chambers and unless I'm mistaken, the cartridge headspaces off of the casing...so you may wind up with some serious blow back if it ignites...

I've heard/read the question being posed before, but never remember any follow up posts with the results....Hopefully it wasn't due to the person experimenting and losing their eyesight and unable to see the keyboard...

A few years ago, I was directed to a gun smith by a customer service rep from Para Ordnance for getting my P-16/40 barrel reamed out to shoot full 10mm rounds, since the magazines will hold the cartridge...

When the NRA meeting was in St Louis, I was talking to the head of Para Ordnance and congratulated him on the excellent customer service for the referral...His comment,:
"If you give me the name, I'll fire him as soon as we get through here."
He was afraid of the consequences if the reamer went too deep and left that kind of potential...his liability was shining then..

It's certainly your decision, if you decide to try it, but an after market barrel is much cheaper and safer..

The firing pin may hit the primer, but since the case headspaces off the mouth rim of the cartridge can bounce forward, then back again as the powder ignites - all not good stuff. Don't do it - new barrel and other necessary accessories OR just download the 10mm's - no other safe way around it. I love the 10mm round [beeep], and have target and full blown loads for it!

Yes. Same bullet for 10mm and 40 S&W. The diameter of the 10mm bullet is actually 10.16mm or 0.400 in.

If you got a glock get a conversion barrel for 120 bucks. The main reason to get the barrel is price for practice ammo.

I just calculated if you buy .40sw 50 rounds for 15 bucks at walmart its 30 cents a shot. The cheapest ammo for 10mm is 60 cents a shot, you pay off the second barrel in 375 rounds. Most 10mm ammo is much more money.

Do not fire 40's in a 10mm chamber! If you don't have a glock, sucks for you.... start reloading!

More info can be found here. This forum is all about 10mm.

My g-20 is coming for xmas along with the LWD .40 barrel and a stack of 10mm double tap!
