Hi everyone, I'm not a big poster just a lurker and comments to other posters. This year I have tried harder then last couple of years.
During the first moon of January, we called in 5 coyotes and one red fox. Shoot 3 and 1 had mange. Should of been 4, had a double come in and could hear the second one running behind me in the woods, waited for it to come out into the field, mistake should of shot the first one and just seen what happened. Won't do that again.
During the 2nd full moon of January we called in 10 coyotes and one Gray Fox. Got 8 and 2 had mange. Called in a triple, shot the first one drt, then a pair came in that where yelling at me, when they got close to the first dead one the male stopped and took off while the female slowed down to a walk, rush the shot, didn't want to loose it. Took a couple of shots but drt, the male in overdrive. The rest where single that came in.
Sorry for not the best pictures, I wish I had the background scenery and better image like Snowshoes has.
As the post says it is my 40th year of hunting. The times of changes as to what we chase today compared to years past. Have been an e-caller since the early 80's with a Dennis Kirk call, have shoot reds coyotes and some coons with hand calls, hate it when they freeze up, or when you inhale the close reeds so they don't freeze, gives you a nasty chest cold. There wasn't many coyotes in the area as we have today, not as many reds compared to years past. Hear are some pictures of years gone by when we tried a lot harder on our hunting time. Haven't tried very hard for Grays anymore because price are just so low. Still love it and enjoy the chase.
Hear are some pictures, each group of pictures is a different year. I like the wheel barrel one the best. This is my best whitetail deer, 160 2/8 non-typical P&Y. Prices so far have been anywhere from $10 to $25. Not like the old days of $75 reds.
Thanks for looking.
