Guys,
I really hate to step into this but since I'm from Illinois I feel I need to...

the callen them in part is okay but shooting a coyote at 30 yard with a rifle seems a little lame to me. i like shooting them when they are flat halin freight at about 100 yard. thats what i like.
You may like to and you may even be successful doing so but anywhere I've ever hunted in Illinois, and I do and have hunted coyotes all over Illinois for the last forty plus years, this would be mostly an irresponsible act. It is very difficult to know the areas behind your shooting lanes are safe here! Even with miles of open fields it is still possible for a badly placed shot to be problematic. I also shoot benchrest with some of the best equipment built by some of the best gunsmiths in the country(Dan Dowling's my favorite) and to shoot a coyote sized target consistently at 500+ yards is difficult from the bench no less than from sticks or a bipod... doable, yes, with absolute consistancy... no way! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif
Where in Illinois are you Skeet? I'm in Central Illinois. I'd sure like to see you shoot! Want to try a shoot off sometime? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Now with that said, I'll also say if you have the skill and proper equipment be my guest! If it's legal where you are then that's good enough for me, but just remember we're all "one" when we're out there hunting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
