187,
Kinda looks like this one uh? This rifle was designed and built by two friends of mine. It is awesome but comes in normal calibers! LOL!

I am not fimiliar with the .408T but would assume that at 27-lbs and 2500 yd claims it has to be one of the many variations of the .50 BMG necked down to a .40 cal. Somewhat like the .338 Lapua. It looks pretty cool but with the amout of recoil this puppy will generate, I would not want my eye on the eyepiece of that rear snap-on nightvision unit!! The rifle above has a shock absorbing recoil system in the stock area kinda like the ones on a car called a,"Soft Shot." You can shoot it all day like it was nothing!

That is a way-cool rifle and cartridge (.408 CheyTac). The .408 is not related to the 50 BMG. It was developed for ultra long range sniping/anti-material. The solid projectiles originally designed for it will remain stable beyond 2,500 yards and are supersonic beyond that range, too.

This is the flatest shooting cartrige out there for long range shooting, bar none. If you have a target at 3 clicks and calm shooting conditions, just call 'em and drop 'em.

According to my sources the .408 CT is based on a .505 jeffery case necked down to .408. It fires a 419gr bullet at 2890 fps. Bullets available are HP BT match, Soft Point, AP, API, and Tracer.

There are many verions similar to this round as I mentioned the 50 BMG's necked down to .40 cal and there was the 9x90mm chamber for the WSG2000 prototype HK that fired a 340gr bullet at 3440 fps. That is smoking.

As good as this sounds, it is hard to imagine how much better it can be than a .50cal, 660gr Match bullet fired from a .50 BMG sniper rifle at 3100 fps!

Thanks for the information.

This rifle was built and developed by a couple friends of mine. It is pretty awesome and has somewhat of a proven record in the shooting department. You can check out the details at the URL below. It has way too much skinny to post here.

Don't forget this is with iron sights too! The misses were not too far off either. He just won his 11th National NRA HP championships a couple of weeks ago with this rifle and his new 6mmXC cartridge. He is one of the best long range shooters to ever stand on two feet.

It is absolutly the finest rifle design I have ever shot. It is just a little heavy for a callin rifle! The second place finisher at this years Nationals also used this rifle/ammo combo. It is really tough to take shooting the best scores of your life, setting records doing it, only to have another guy still beat your butt!! LOL!!

Karl,

You should stick your head up and come out of hiding more often. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's not seldom that recoil spooks the Pony. But this one might take the cake.

I went to a gunshow a while back. And stood there listening to this guy talk for a little bit. Apperently he was the president of a company that makes a rifle called the windrunner. Cant recall the company name, I think it involved edm, as the rifle was constructed with a lot of wire edm work. Anyways supposedly they developed this .48 cheyenne tactical round. It didnt sound like there was a lot of comercial brass out there for it. pretty cool rifle, I know I have seen it in a movie since then but I dont recall...oh wait, it was in triple x. Wisht I hadnt just admitted to seeing that. It was a pretty decent looking setup (better be for the $$$ he was talking about), but I wouldnt buys sh*t from that guy, he was an absolute jerk.

The Windrunner was a .50 cal rifle made by a company called First Defense. They maybe out of business by now. Have not seen or heard about them in a while!

Interesting cartridge. I googled it the 2'nd link was http://www.cheyennetactical.com/theis.htm . For those of us that have dialup and would rather not load another webpage while downloading something here's a little info. "The parental cartridge case for the .408 Cheyenne Tactical® is the .505 Gibbs, necked to .408" and with a redesign of the web area" and "This purpose of this 3000-plus yard (transonic between 3300 and 3400 yards) cartridge is to deliver accurate (sub MOA), to a target from a sniper platform" so I guess that should help a little with the info.

Guess I should read all the posts more carefully before I speak, looks like that gun at the top the "intervention" is in fact the new model/next gen. windrunner from edm arms.
