$42,000,000 just............

Republicans,including Bush and Bernenke,wanted a stimulus package which would stimulate the economy immediately.Dems. did what they could to delay it(the effect)until after the November election.Republicans are hoping the letter will prompt consumers to spend the money now even if they must carry it on their credit cards until May/June.Smart move but it pi**ed-off the Dems.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
Look at it this way.

If you spend the money on
1) gas it goes to the middle east
2) Electronics (TV's, stereo, etc.) it goes to Asia
3) Computer services it goes to India
4) Clothes is goes to China
.......

So who's economy are we stimulating?
 
Azcoyote,you have a good point but only to a point.Every dollar that enters the U.S. economy has a multiplier effect.Every dollar that goes out of the country changes hands in this country several times before it leaves.The last I knew,from micro/macro economics,the multiplier effect was about x6.So the tax rebates do help our economy even though much of that money will ultimatly leave this country.There are exceptions;my brother-in-law prides himself in being frugal (I believe he has every dollar he ever earned).If you look in the dictionary under "cheap" you will see his picture /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif.
 

I am going to send my rebate check right to the NRA.

Wether its mine, theirs or somebody elses money that I am going to get, it doesnt matter to me. I figured to send it to the NRA, kind of like useing the government's money to fight themself's.

When I heard that our wonderful gubmint was borrowing money from our enemies to send me a rebate I vowed to spend it on something made in this country.
