Anyone had any experience with an AR upper in 45 acp or is there one made in 44 Mag? Just getting more and more into the AR platform and wondering what other calibers I could get. The 45 really interest me. Who makes one and what should I reasonably pay for one?
I know Olympic used to make one.... There are som smaller companys that do as well. Also a guy has now made dedicated ar-45 lower. It takes grease gun mags instead of the lesser reliable normal uzi mags. Do a search on ar 45.
Unfortunatly the 45 ACP is not as effective as one would think. The longer barrel really don't increase effectivness that much. However the 44 Mag in a lever action carbine is the opposite it give a lot more effective range than in a handgun. But I have never heard of the 44 MAg being chambered in a AR.
Funny you should bring up a .45 caliber in the AR. Hornady just brought out the "450 Bushmaster thumper". Bushmaster should be coming out with the upper any time.
Oly does make the .45 ACP upper, as well as 9mm, 40 S&W and 10mm. I have had one of thier 10mm uppers for about 15 years. Feed and function is great, accuracy is excellent and LOTS of power! Real fun to shoot. I have an Eotech on it.
