.45 Raptor

Looks like a thumper- in my later years I have found that smaller cartridges please me more and kill the [beeep] out of anything I hit properly.

I agree, this seems like a .444marlin but in the AR10 platform.

Edit reason: reading is fundamental and is only useful when done correctly.

It does not use 308 brass. It is a 460 S&W with the rim rebated to .473

The article shares data comparing it to the 450B, 458S, and 50B... Does that actually make sense? That comparison in this type of analysis doesn't really count to me if it's not in the same platform, might as well have compared it to a 45-70 in a levergun... I can't get a 45 Raptor in an AR-15, so why compare it to AR-15 heavy cartridges?

Does look like a fun cartridge though, but I'm not sure there's enough difference over a 308win in killing performance that I'd value another AR-10 upper.

The article says necked up 308.

The article is wrong. From the web site of the developer:

but as an evolution of the 460 SMITH & WESSON MAGNUM from a revolver cartridge to a rifle cartridge by modifying the existing rimmed cartridge case into a rimless cartridge matching the rim and extractor specifications of the 308 WINCHESTER
