Well I sold my first Ar in 223 to help fund a 22r buld for my truck but now im thinkin I would like to have a new one and the idea of the 485 Socom has been buggin me a lot latly. I would like to use on of the new poylmer lowers like the Plumb Carzy but I tryed there sight and no good so I got on here and was intorduced to the "New Frontier Armory LW-15 Complete AR15 Polymer Lower Receiver -Black" from Joebob's.
My main consurn is that im not sure if these are desined for the lager, more BA rounds like the 450,458,50BE, or even liek the 6.8 or 6.5?
sounds like they are a good product thow so if they can handle that I would probly use one.
A nother thing is finding a BBl and a bolt? To my nolage Black Hole has eather gone down the drain?

(Just watched NFA's torture tests so we got that one checked off)

So that leaves the bbl and the bold?

Can some one help me with this?

I havnt seen any 485socom bulds on here so i will do a good right up after the buld thank you.

I had a Rock River upper which shot well but it was hard as crap to extract an un-fired round from the chamber. Sold the upper for this very reason and factory ammo is very expensive. The round is an awesome sight and hits very hard. It will kill anything in this country out to 200yds or so.

AR15 Polymer Lower Receiver is not for the 485.

If you buy cheap you get cheap. Save some more money.

I own a 450 Bushmaster from Bushmaster, it works. It shoots, it kills and does not break. You can buy ammo.

Where are you getting your information from? I have not seen a composit lower break from shooting a large caliber upper. The 450 Bushmaster in the video form New Frontier is mine so I can speak from personal experiance.

Polymer should be just fine......No complaints yet. But... Seriously consider the 450b over the 458...you wouldnt know the difference and neither will your targets, but your wallet will thank the [beeep] out of you....

I called my buddy at the local gun shop and he said what you guys are. "450B all the way"
SO I guess I am switching gears.

Still in the air about the lower he has some striped loawers I'm going to go look at tomarow so that might make up my mind.

I would still like to buld my upper. Should I get an assembled upper recever and then swap out the bolt? I would also like a slap side.
Any ideas?

Thank you

I own a 458 socom and a 50 beowulf. I looked at all three before buying one and bought the 458 first. Have had it several years now and if you handload then it is the clear choice in my opinion. The bullet selection is unmatched and if you handload the cost of shooting is not bad at all. I own several AR's and the 458 socom is probably one of my favorite rifles I own. I have taken several deer with it and it is a joy to shoot. Then the 50 beowulf... Well it is a 50...

There no reason in the world, I would waste my money on a plastic lower.

Wilson Combat is adding the 458 socom to their line by June. I believe barrels and bolts are supposedly going to be available as well for the builders

Believe it or not switching to the .458 will actually be cheaper ammo for me. The 50B is not a legal cartridge for deer here but .458 is. I currently shoot 12ga Remington copper sabots which are over $4 each, .458 is around $3. I won't be spending a day at the range with it at that price but I'm looking forward to dropping some deer next season. I'm waiting to see if any other manuf are bringing a .458 to market before fall.

Then you're either mis informed or just stubborn. My polymer lower has been excellent shooting both my .223 and my 6.8 uppers. And it was way cheaper to build.

Well I stoped in at the buddy prevosly talked about and what do you know he had a R-gun's 20" 450B upper in ther and he let me use one of his lowers and I went and shot it...so..some paper work and a fone call latter I have a R-guns 20" 450B a box of 250tsx a 5rd mag a striped lower and a parts kit for seven bills.... I'm happy even thow I didnt get to buld it. I am looking for a but stock thow.

I will give my thoguths after I get a scope mounted and some reloads rolled up.

Thanks for the help guys

That means you don't waste money on just about any modern pistol?
