It's been a long time coming. I took furlough a couple of times early this year and had to sell and then rebuy some parts. Fortunately, that gave me time to plan even better..... And I'm pretty excited about the new bighorn action. Any day now...

It's the new TL3?
Ha, I have a 20" TL3 6.5x47 at Beanlands now

And

I just paid Robbie today for another TL3 and have one more yet on order

You're gonna have some kinda nice rifle when it's finished

Good on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chad is the one who told me he wouldn't thread anything less than .750 5/8x24.

Actually, Kalli did, but she knows what's up of course.

I'm [beeep] bent on him doing it, so it's either have him chop it or order a new stick.

That's weird. I wonder what changed. I had this one done in 2013. I think I spec'd a 1.5" shank on this, IIRC.

No I don't, I "think" it was around 25 fps per inch

I mean whatever distance or caliber you shoot, you have to allow for drop, even in the fastest rounds, you still have to compensate for drop

So if a 20" barrel shoots 50-75fps slower, I may have to dial one or two more clicks.

I'm telling ya, after shooting with a can I don't want to hunt without one

That's a sweet looking rifle for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'll take 140's at 2700 all day long and half the night

I have 2 6.5x47L. One was my main hunting rifle for last several years. It's in a classic (micky) stock with a 23" #3. When i got my can this year it's way too small so I built another. A3 with Rem Varmint at 20.5". I'm shooting a different load in the new (heavier) gun so hadn't got a straight up comparison on velocity (yet) but I'm sure it's minimal. Differences in barrels and chambers can cause that much... I have NO problems connecting with the shorter gun (paper & steel or much farther than should be shooting deer). Should get some game comparisons in next couple months... (NC early season comes in mid Oct and we have unlimited antlerless tags) I don't expect to notice one bit of difference.

If your at .740 it shouldn't take but around 1" or so to get .750; 1/100 of an inch is nothing. You should be able to get that specific number rather easy. But yes, 25fps per inch is a safe guess on velocity diff.

I'm just gonna say chop it at .750. None of these rifles look bad. In fact, they all look great. On top of that, there's not much velocity to be gained or lost, so I'll just let it ride.

Thanks folks for all the help. I don't know exactly when the rifle will be done, but I'll get some pics up. I still have to pay off a scope, blah.

My brother manufactures suppressors. I had him work up 7.5" titanium with a little greater dimension than normal. I don't know if it's a one off or not, but I haven't seen another one like it in his shop.

That's a little while away. I'll have the rifle a while before all that gets finalized. It's kinda on the back burner, but still a consideration for this build since I'll obviously want to have it on there as well from time to time, particularly at the range.
