50 gr coyote bullet

40 grain nosler ballistic tip has been great for me. The vmax are to soft. I've killed coyotes from 223 ackley to 220 swift ackley with the 40 grain nosler and had great luck and fur friendly

Thanks for your service airborne! I had the same probs with my factory twist remmy, ended up with the most accurate and most lethal round thru mine using Hornady 52gr Bthp match #2249 with 38.5g of H-380. The Sierra blitz was accurate but blew up too much in 50's and 55's wont stabilize. Try slowing your poly tips down to reduce blow up, I did but lost accuracy so ended up back at the 52gr Hornady. Hope this helps, good luck! I have tried almost every bullet/powder/length combo thru that gun and have a pile of "test subjects" (coyotes and p-dogs) to help me decide.

I had a 22-250 years ago, 40 vmaxes were deadly, as in no exits ever. Next time I bought bullets I was grenading pelts. Sold it to save fur rather than try a different bullet. Went to 17rem.

Just shot two dogs a couple nights ago with the Sierra 53 grain hp. Both bang flops without a twitch and zero pelt damage. One was a frontal shot at about 199 yards the other was a broadside shoukder hit at 130

I just had the same results a reaper4, but I used Speer varmit 52 grain hpfb. 223 pushing it at around 3200 fps. Couldn't find a hole until it started to drip blood. It was a side shot at 150 yards. Hope they all work that good! Rudy

Stay away from plastic tips unless its the 40g Nosler ballistic tip for saving fur. Hornady 50g sx is a good fur bullet at slower velocities.

The Hornady 50gr SP bullet have done very well with no fur damage in my .223. They have been very accurate to! They should do well in your 22-250

Although not 50 gr I would suggest you try the Sierra #1365 which is a 55gr spritzer. I shot 4 with it this past week and all were DRT with no visible entry or exit. Shots were 100-150 yds, in a 223 @ 3100 fps. I have shot a few with a 204 and the damage was much worse. There is a picture of them in CALLING IN THE EAST under 4 coyote down. I know its not a very big sample but they are the best bullet I have found so far.
