I seezed a load over in reloaders nest that claimed 5280 fps. 22-243 30 grain berger in front of 50 gr RE15. I know its crap, but i thought id share. Exactly 1 mile per second. Also claimed .554 in group @ 100 yds.

It could be - but by the time it was at 200 yds, it was a whole damm lot slower.

Thats a lot of powder behind a little pill. Would like the know the twist rate of that barrel, 1-20"? haha.

Any bullet would have to be really really tough to not disintigrate at those speeds.

I'd wouldn't say it was crap just because it's real fast. A friend did some exploring with his 22-284 shooting 35gr Bergers to see how far they could be pushed........got about 5200 as I remember. He said they held together fine and shot very small groups.

At really high velocity, a 30gr .224 diam. bullet will usually stay together long enough to trip the chrono. After that, who cares? That bullet, at that velocity is disadvantaged for obvious reasons, IMO, it has no practical use at that velocity. [ unpredictable ]

For the first 10-20 feet though, it is a show stopper.

Questionable but not out of the question. I broke the 5K mark with 50 grns. of N540 behind a 30grn. Barnes VG coming out of a 220 Swift AI. It has a 27.5" pipe with a 14" twist. The load was one the edge with a flattened primer and polished case head. I only shot one test group after backing the load down .5 grains and it was unremarkable at a little over an inch. I only shot one pigeon off a barn roof @ 68 yards with that load and it was "remarkable".
