Has anyone had any luck with this combination. When I say luck I mean 5 shots into 1/2 inch at 100 yards. Please share your powder and primer combination. I have win 748, benchmark, exterminator and varget.

Thanks

ok, I know this is not answering your question but the 50gr NBT works awesome in my 223Rem with 25.5gr Benchmark powder and CCI 450 primers.

Puts coyotes down hard and good one fur. That load is just shy of 3200 fps in a 20in semi.

When I shot the 55gr NBT I had a lot more exits than with the 50 gr bullet. If you put the two bullets side by side they are almost the same in shape except the polymer tip is bigger on the 50gr NBT. Therefor bigger hollow point but still the solid copper base for penetration. My fur guy has a little dish of the 50gr NBT's copper bases that were lodged up against the far side fur. They look like primers…kinda.

I don't think that's a common rate of twist in .223 Remington. I'm not sure how the numbers work out if you try something like the Greenhill formula, but I'd suggest using a powder that gives the highest velocity possible to try and get the RPM up to a sufficient level for stability. Maybe you'll need to try a 50-grain bullet if one of the 55s don't work out. But then again maybe it's not a stability issue at all.

The 1/14 twist is not a common twist, but the .223 upper that I had built in that twist would handle 40gr - 55gr bullets at pretty high speeds with fast powder...I had the better luck with W-748 than the X-terminator in the 50-55gr bullets and excellent results with the 40gr as in the groups below...
Top with X-Terminator.., bottom one with W-748

Thanks for the replies. I know that 1 in 14 is an odd twist but it is what I am working with. The gun shoots 50 grain Nosler Balistic tips great but I ran out of them and have some 55 grain that I would like to use.

1 in 14" was the ONLY twist available in the 223 for about 30 years... there are millions of them around. The gun companies starting changing about 20 years ago.

I can front you some if you need them. Kevin and I split a couple of thousand a few weeks ago. Haven't opened the bag yet.

Did you check to see if Nosler had any seconds on sale right now? Don't wanna run out of ammo right at the start of whistlepig shooting do you?
