Great shot!!!

Great photo also. I just sold 2 LRP(long rang products) mags like the 1 in the pics. Did a search and couldn't find them anymore. Shot the JLK 60's out of a 22 CHeetah with a 1-9" twist and they would almost cut a yote in half at 300 yds. Again excellent shot

RR, did u use your LRP's? I guess the LRP guy was making them for DPMS, but i heard he died and nobody picked up on it after that. Interesting to hear about your experiences with the JLK's. What made u decide to try them? It's definitely an odd bullet selection that's for sure. Here's a p[ic of a 2.5" 425-yd. 3-shot gp. from a factory Savage Striker 22-250 shooting the 60 Low Drag @ 3325 mv. Computer ballistics profile of this load was dead on the nose to 600 yds.--

...and a 330-yd. double on PD's with 1 cut completely in half using the 60 LD--

I used the LRP's with the 60 gr JLK's to shoot 200-600 varmint matches with the AR. Used the Cheetah in those matches with 80 gr. JLK's but that got a little boring. Then after I switched to the AR they made the matches more difficult so I quit. Everybody started using 6mm wildcat guns 1.25"dia at muzzle barrels which were very capable of 3" or less groups at 600yds. They lost alot of intrest after that as many didn't want to spend $3500+ to stay competetive. The rule changers didn't want to challenge themselfs and shoot sub calibers. Some people it's all about winning. Me its about having fun and learning something everytime. Those 60gr. JLK's would pop if pushed past 3800 fps in a 1-9 twist. Just a little puff of gray about 40 yds from the muzzle. I like the 60's because they have the same BC as 69gr. Sierra's and when coming out at 3600 fps are flat shootin'. RR

Man that's interesting stuff sir!! Seems very few guys ever used the LRP or DPMS magazines, but they're sure working for me. When i 1st happened onto the Low Drags i was just looking over the JLK brochure and glanced at them. Instantly i saw the super-high BC's and thought that i needed to give them a go. Seems some guys like them and some don't...? I can't remember the last time i shot them out of some rig that they didn't help with accuracy. Great bullets...but it took some convincing when Steve Milholland bought all of Jimmy's stuff to get him to make them, since they're such oddball bullets.

Here's a couple pics for VLD bullets AR's sake--
75 A-Max seated to VLD magazine length--

L-R) 80 SMK, 75 AMax, 75 Horn BTHP, and 65 JLK LD--

The 80 SMK is actually shorter in OAL than the 75 A-Max, so with this magazine it will work well seated to fit.

I don't know for sure what *the VOR* is? Is it that little white communications building/tower N.E. of the airport?

But yes, that skyline picture of the bluff looks very much like a bluff near the airport. I thought maybe I had it pegged.

Again, NICE SHOT! It's neat to make a shot like that and know that it really is more than just being lucky.

Yeah that's it. I know where u're talking about i think, NE of the airport right along that long west facing bluff? I don't hunt much in that area really, but sometimes.

Did u have to modify them at all?--my gunsmith had to shorten the spring a bit and feed lips adjusted slightly as i remember.

That is super-high for a flat-based bullet but it has a looongg ogive, and as it turns out the boattail portion doesn't lend that much more to the BC of the bullet. I can't remember seeing an external ballistics advantage by using the 75/77's, but i might have to take a look at that again. Jimmy Knox originally designed the LD's to compete with the 6mm benchresters at 200 and 300 yds. with std. 14, 12, and 10 twist barrels. I just ordered a meplat uniformer from Dave Tooley to try and get a slightly larger HP from the 65 to help with terminal performance. We'll see how that goes.

GH, there is an option for the longer bullets from an AR, and that is the old DPMS VLD magazine that allows a bullet to be loaded into the guide ridge of the magazine, and single-stacked. But they aren't making them anymore, though i'm trying to get some comapnies to consider them. Here is what it looks like--

Pretty slick huh?

Very interesting. JLK isnt ringing a bell, I'll have to do a google search on those. With all the AR stuff flooding the market I cant believe nobody is producing those mags?? I'd be very interested in finding a 400 yard combo that works for an AR. I found out tonight that a 60gr Vmax out of a 16" AR will DRT a coyote at 315yds. I have a ways to go to make it to 557!

Nope, worked perfect from the day I received them. Just had to change out the bolt catch with the modified LRP catch. They fed so smooth, straight into the chamber. I would have kept those mags if I didn't have to keep changing the bolt catch to use standard mags. RR
