Sorry back at ya', marco.... Maybe I should have originally said in terms of currently available 22 Mag ammo.
If you'll notice I never stated anything about shooting the RF version of the 5MM cartridge. I had one years ago (@1970) when they first came out and shot RF ammo then, and I never worried about who and what back then.
If you'll check back about what I originally said above, in the current rifle I own I shoot nothing but factory 32 grain jacketed 20 caliber bullets or several different light weight 20 caliber hand swaged HP bullets that I have made for myself and shoot in a Steve Schroeder CF conversion..
The only RF ammo shot in this rifle was a few original Remington shells a few years back and a few of the original new Centurian stuff about a year ago to compare velocities with CF ammo. Both trail the CF version considerably in velocity.... And in the CF version you have some excellent powder choices and much improved bullets designed originally for CF use.
Just an FYI: the Schroeder CF conversion makes it about a five minute job to switch from CF to RF or vice versa.
I know with the CF version I can beat anything you're currently shooting in the 22 Mag in velocity and energy; even your 20 year old ammo that you maybe still have some of that is no longer available to other folks.. Then you will be closer if your old facts are valid, but not even then.
If you really want to enjoy the 5MM capabilities, get a CF conversion... In the interim, don't be so quick in jumping on your bandwagon and making "story teller" accusations..
Sorry I wasn't more precise in my original statement.... I just never thought to consider RF ammo that has not been available to folks for 20 years in my original statement as maybe swaying the table in favor of the 22 Mag.
