6.5x6.8 speeds ?

I've been tinkering with heavier longer barreled rifles and getting them to balance better on my tripod for increased accuracy when shooting while standing when night hunting.
I have a sidecharge 24: heavy barrel 6.5x6.8 that shoots 90 TNT and 95 vmax well but it seems they were only in that 2900 fps area.
A 16" 6.8spc will probably do that.
I'm curious if anyone has any input or experience with different powder speeds and barrel lengths in this variant.

Basically you will find them the same as the Grendel. A bit more can be had because the pressures are a tad higher. It is a convenient way to use the 6.8 case head size.

My 6.5X6.8 using FEDERAL brass shows about 1 CC more water than my 6.5 Grendel shows using Lapua or Starline. With a bit more capacity and higher pressures you might realize 75-100 fps over the Grendel. Remember though with the heavy bullets you will eat up more case capacity in the 6.8 version depending on the throating. A long magazine is your friend on this one.

I have a 16". Using Starline brass, 85gr Sierra Varmint and 10x, I'm getting about 21815, but it's HARD on the brass, so backed up a bit and getting 2750 with safer pressure. A little lackluster, but this is a sub 250yd gun for my uses.

look at ar15performance. I think he still has a few 16" versions if you want something lighter. I think they are pretty cheap too
