I've got a Burris 4.5X14 on mine, and it works just fine for me. Everybody is different, but as you get older and your eyes get weaker, the extra magnification is a blessing.

I'd say it depends on what type of terrain you're mostly going to use it in. Open or fairly close distances.
I run a 2-10 Weaver in the areas with closer distances and swap to a 4-14 Mueller if I go to more open areas.

Not to nit pick you and not trying to offend you- according to your signature you also have not killed anything to speak of.
To the OP-Buy the best glass you can afford and as much magnification as you can handle. Make sure the low end is low enough for field of view and close shots. Always carry it and Call on low power. It is much easier to go up in power on a far out critter than to go down when he is staring at you from 20 feet.
UMMM I don't see any kills in your signature either. I actually killed a running buck with it this past fall two quick shots both bullets landed within 2 1/2 inches of each other in the shoulder. I have a new borne and my coyote hunting has been cut down big time. I have been able to get out only a few times in less then ideal conditions. My shots will average 200yards and less and I feel that my current scope is plenty for that. I'm hoping I will get some time to actually hunt them hard but no telling with the baby?
