6 WOA

Colorado Coyotes

Tell me about the 6 WOA. I've always wanted 243 performance in an AR-15 and this sounds pretty close.

I'm sure there are other similar chambering's out there so give me some opinion's. I want to hear likes and dislikes etc.

For predator's.

If you are wanting to shoot 90gr or heavier bullets the 6WOA is the right case but if you want the lighter bullets I would look closely at the 6mmDTi from Mike at Dedicated Technology. He can make you either so chose what suits you. I have the 6mmDTi and there is lots of info here just type 6mmDTi in the search at the top of this page.
My current load is 75gr V Max at 3200 fps and it is working well.

Here is a few work-up loads.

I have a bolt in 243 and love the Hornady 75gr HP's on coyotes. That is what will see the most use in the new AR chambering but it could see a little use for big game, antelope & deer.

6 WOA is just somewhere to start looking, make suggestions. How about ballistics, ease of hand loading, price of components, anything that you've had experience with including other calibers.

How would barrel length differ between the WOA and DTI? Seems like most get a 22in barrel for the DTI, same for the WOA?

Since they have the same bore diameter and almost the same case capacity (DTi slightly more) you will get similar results in whatever barrel length you pick. I think the 22 inch is about the best for both. If you go to the 25 DTi then you can drop to an 18-20 inch barrel and get good results.

The Dti is as simple as it gets to load. You just run the cases thru a DTi die and load and shoot. You are fire-forming the shoulder but I am hunting right now with my fire-form loads as they shoot great.
These were taken with a 6mmDti and the 80gr Berger Varmint.

Thanks, 25 DTI is probably where I'm at for the shorter barrel. You seem to have gotten excellent results with it. Oh, and sorry for the thread hijack

I did. I got up extra early and planted a garden. So there! [/quote]

"THERE YA GO" I knew something about you wasn't right, you don't plant a garden in the winter

Ha! It's not winter until Dec 22nd.... Some farmer you are! Geeze.

I'm hoping to have some fresh sweet peas ready for pickin by the time all the lakes freeze over and ice fishing gets going good.

I am surprised Doggin being the sportsman he is would stoop to such tactics.

And I will apologize now to the OP for being a willing participate in getting this far off topic..... but hopefully he had gotten his answers already.

It's either the old pea trick or explosives. And I'm running low on ammonium nitrate.

I ain't apologizing to CC. If I do that he will think I don't like him any more (or less).

I would like to ask some more questions on this topic. I have a 22" 6WOA on the way from Scott. What kinda speed can I safely get with an 87 grain bullet. I am thinking the 87 Grain Vmax will be my bullet of choice and swap to 85 grain Sierra HPBT's for 87 grain Hornady's for deer season. And body shoot bullets that heavy?

I have been shooting 85 partitions and 87 spirepoints in the 6dti with really good results...what twist is the 6woa from Scott?

I think its gonna be a 1-10 twist. How long is the barrel on your D-tech and what kinda speeds are you getting?
