I working on a deer load for my .223 with 1-8" twist. I was thinking of going with one of these two bullets. Anyone have any experience with either? I've use the Partition with good success before, but have never used a Scirocco before.

Which bullet weight does your gun shoot better, I'd go for accuracy as either will get the job done.

55g Hornady, 27g of Benchmark, Lapua brass, cci 450= 3500 fps
Rem 700 Sps sporter, 3/8" groups-12T; 223
Work up to this load in your bolt action 12 or 14T rifle

24.5g-25.5g works well in 9T barrels that I have shot with 55g Hornady sp.

I shot two does on a pond dam a couple of years ago, 270 yards with 62g Barnes triple shock, they both ran about 75 yards...I did not like that, AR15 with a 6.5x20 leupold, Bushmaster Heavy barrel

I can not answer your question on accuracy of your choices, but remember that the kill zone on a deer is sizable, keep the copper out of your barrel.

I have not actually shot either bullet out of the rifle yet. I'm fairly confident I can work a load with either that will be plenty accurate enough. I was mainly asking for personal experience with these bullets performing on deer sized game. Wasn't sure if there was a big difference in performance or not. I know they are both great bullets.

A lot of people refuse to believe this, but if you can push it fast & hard, a Sierra 52 grain Match King is one of the best medium/large game bullets there is. It's hard enough to penetrate then comes apart creating massive damage inside. I've killed more whitetails & hogs with this bullet in a 220 Swift or 22-250 than I can count. I made no mistake, I said & meant MATCH KING. Once you try it, you will believe.
