Impressive, how do you find time on shooting your other rigs? That's roughly 825 rounds per month. Not sure if I could afford to reload 10,000rds of .308 per year.

How long does a .308 barrel last?

Or 27 rounds/day..........

Dang you guys have me like 50 notifications on my iphone! I thought my iphone was going to tweak out! haha

Im glad we sorted this all out. But isn't sighting in a inch or two high at 100 the same as a 200 yard zero? If you know your rise/fall with your rounds and set up couldnt you for example sight a 500yard zero at "100 yards" ?

So I think im going to rule the .308 out....

What about a .260 or a 7SAUM?

1.5" high at 100 is close to right on at 200 with a lot of cartridges. To sight in @ 500yds, I shoot at targets 500yds away.

I'd get a 260. I just bought one a while back. Or a 7mm-08..........

I can't tell you I've shot anything with a 260 yet. Just bought mine. However, I have used the 7-08, 308, and 243 on a whole lot of critters. The 260 pretty much falls right between the 243 and 7-08 and I'm quite certain for deer sized game and smaller it would kill with authority.

My 260 was built with one thing in mind, LR shooting via 123gr Lapua Scenars........

I have a 30-378 but if your going to shoot paper then it is totally overboard since it burns 119gr of powder per shot, but it's the cat's meow for long range hunting. If it were me I'd go with a 7WSM since 7mm bullets have super high BCs.

Powder, primers, and bullets would be $5013 and 62 cents.

Karl at Kampfeld Custom has it. It is a Lawton 7000 action, 26" Krieger tube twisted 1-8, McMillan A5, PTG bottom metal, old style Rem 700 trigger I rebuilt, Mark 4 rings, Lawton 20 moa rail, Nightforce NXS 8-32x56 scope with NP-R1 reticle. Barrel threaded for suppressor or brake(no brakes for me!). Whole barreled action is salt bath nitrided. Or melonited, if you will. Don't have any pics, but it ain't much to look at. It's just black and gray........

Cheap, compared to what I usually end up paying for my rifles. I don't buy guys to NOT shoot them. I'll go through 500rnds of 308 in a weekend sometimes. I'll go through a barrel every 6000-8000 rnds.
