62 grain 223 tracers

I acquired a few of the 62 grain orange tip tracers that I planned on loading up with some h-335 just for fun. I started wondering about shooting them suppressed, anyone ever done that? Any issues in doing that? I wasn’t sure if that would be like any other bullet through a can or if it might be a bad idea.

Just be careful if it's dry out. I started a fire at a range with a large berm with a 62 gr tracer many years ago. The bullet hit where I aimed, but a pellet must have flipped up and over the berm and lit the grass behind it. Luckily I got down there and stomped it out before it got out of control. It was touch and go lol. I'll never shoot one again.

Yeah I have heard that, definitely needs to be wet or snow on the ground. Thanks for the heads up

Shot tracers into the dirt in a field 20 years ago after hours of drinking beers with my buddies. Watching the bullets ricocheting off into space after hitting the dirt sobered me up really quick. It’s crazy being able to get a visual of bullet ricochet and how real of a thing it is.

Shoot one at frozen ground and watch it fly, thats what most people dont consider! Sucker deflects like it was shot at metal

Watching the night shoot at the Big Sandy MG shoot, they ricochet like a son of a gun. Granted most of those were 50 cal and 308 but be careful nonetheless. They had to shut down the shoot due to fire started by tracers and even canceled the shoot for that evening and banned all tracer fire for the remainder of the shoot.

cousin & her hubby had that issue from a neighbor target shooting years ago when they first got their property. neighbor had a birm out back, but it was deep winter and everything was frozen solid. hubby was out back looking around with his B.I.L when bullets started richetochet thru the treetops above them (his lot was all wooded)

they evac'ed quick and went over to let the neighbor know what was going on, realized there was a birm and now the neighbor knows to be cautious during cold weather 100%

A guy at my club shot a few and set the range on fire. (No tracer round allowed.) Lost range privileges for 6 months or a year. I don't remember. If its dry they will start fires.
