6mm-06 improved

Any one have any loads for this? The plan is to blow out the cases with 87 grain bullets but thinking of shooting 100 grains. Used 25-06 cases to start with.

My pops had one built a couple years ago. I know he shoots the 105gr. Berger Hybrid and I know he used neck turned 30-06 Lapua brass as the parent case but that's all I'm 100% sure of. I'll ask him what the specifics are but he's not home for a couple days so it'll be awhile before I know for sure. For some reason IMR 7828SSC or RL25 sticks in my head for the powder he was using.

If I recall he was standing on the gas a little but not running them full tilt and was getting right around 3550 fps out of a 28in Broughton 5C barrel.

My next rifle is going to be the 6mm-06, (not improved). Right now my friend for load info is Google. Quite a bit of load info there. One guy said to experiment around or just buy some H-1000 and save the frustration. I should be ready by the end of the year. Good luck.

Something to consider, a 6-06 really doesn't offer anything the 6-284 doesn't. Case capacity is nearly identical and forming 6-284 brass from Lapua 6.5-284 takes no extra steps or neck turning. Simply run a 6.5-284 through a 6-284 sizing die and you're done. Even the Ackley Improved version offers minimally more case capacity over the 6-284.

My 6-284 has a case capacity of 66.2gr H2O my dads 6-06Ack Imp is 69.7gr H2O and the unfired unimproved 6-06 was 67gr H2O.

If a 6-06 is just what you want, nothing wrong with it. But, having been around both, for me, the extra steps and fireforming, if you go Ack Imp, wouldn't be worth it to essentially create the same thing as the 6-284 and the Ack Imp is only going to yield a slight increase in fps.

I have a 6mm-06 Mashburn improved 35 degree shoulder. it has been a struggle for myself, but i finally got dies made.Anyone ever force fit/ fire form, anyway.
The rifle is stamped 6mm-06 Mashburn.
If anyone can provide information on this rifle , i'd appriciate it?
Not to bump your post.

Regards, Jerry

I ran 58.5 gr retumbo with a 105 hornady bthp. Just search here in the search bar up top "6mm06 Springfield" or just 6mm06
