You can shoot 6mm Remington and then the cases can be reloaded as 6mm AI cases. Can I buy 6 mmAI cases.
yes this thread is almost 20 years old. but to answer the OP question yes factory 6mm Rem can safely be used.
The 6mm Remington Ackley or otherwise known as the .244 Remington Ackley is a wildcat cartridge , so the big boys like Federal, Remington, Winchester do not offer loaded ammo. But as I said the regular 6mm Remington that some offer can safely be fired in the Ackley chamber to make brass that you can reload. if you feel the brass you have is compromised.
Doing a quick google search there is a company called copper creek cartridge company that does offer loaded ammo. Although a good bit expensive in my book.
6mm Remington Ackley Improved 40* Remanufacturing – Copper Creek Cartridge Co.
coppercreekcartridgeco.com
sierra's website does have load data for the Ackley improved cartridge.
although personally I wouldn't use the copper creek offering I would just buy some new factory rounds or brass and go from there to reload. For fireform standard 6mm rem will work great to fireform the brass. Or one could used the COW (Cream Of Wheat) to form the brass. Or simply use standard 6mm rem load data as a start point and work up from there slowly.
