20" 6BR Varminter test today
95gr SMK loaded to 2.3"
32.5gr H4895=3032fps
32.5gr Varget=2950fps
32.5gr RE15=2890fps
33.5gr 2520=2960

75gr Vmax
32.5gr H4895=3158fps
I think more is possible here with a slightly faster powder so that should make a good varmint/yote round.
I should be able to get 3100 with the Barnes 80 and 85 so for deer and hogs it should work just fine.

At 3000fps the 95SMK will shoot over 10" flatter at 500yds than a 308 with 155gr match bullets. It also has 3" less deflection.

The 6mmBR is a GREAT varmint cartridge that is SO overlooked because of its benchrest association & misunderstood potential. I've got 5 BR's (or variants), but all in bolt guns. Not much out there (that has decent barrel life) beats one. They are extremely accurate & turn coyotes, ground hogs, crows, deer, whatever upside down!

That's some pretty stiff loads you listed

I put 9 out of 10 shots in apx 1/2" moa with the 95SMK, cold bore shot was about 1/2" away, I don't have flyers I have flat out jerks.

Yes those loads are near max. and really the purpose of the testing.

Precision Reflex Inc.
Their 6.8 mags are stainless and stiffer so they don't get the side bulge like the alum mags do.
On the Gen III mags The front edge of the feed lip needs to be rounded off so it has a smoother release of the cartridge.
I don't know why they changed the design from the Gen 1 mags that work perfect out of the package.
I have too many rifles and calibers, so many in fact I don't really have time to develop loads for them and learn how they shoot (drop and drift) so i can make a quick shot without checking the cheat sheet. I wanted 1 rifle that will do everything I need it to so I could really get use to shooting it and know where it's going to hit. I Have been shooting a 6BRX for a few years but am getting tired of fire forming. I think this 6BR is the one cartridge that will do everything I need it to with the least amount of work, Lapua brass is so good there is no sorting or brass prep, just load it out of the box, shove some Varget or H4895 in a case and it's good for 1/2moa. Now if I can just get caught up so I can use it.

The 6BR is truly a do-all cartridge. From precision long range ground hogs/crows/pdogs up to & including deer, no problem. I shot the barrel out of my "all-around" 6BR. When I rebarreled I went to 6BRX. I'm now about half way through the barrel life on it & I may go back to a straight 6BR next time. The extra ~100 fps isn't noticed in the field. However, I still have my reamer & may use BRX again just because. My fireforming loads shoot just as good as anything else. Just a tad slower.

How much freebore are you using to cut the 6BR chambers?

WOW, that is pretty close to 243 Win speeds.

With a lot less powder and out of a 15 platform. I can't beleive more people dont market the 6br in a ar. It is such a efficient and accurate cartridge.

I have been shooting a 6BRX made from a Krieger blank for 2 years or more, this 6BR is another Krieger 8 twist 4 groove.
The 100 barrels we are having made will be lapped match barrels but 4150 CMV and Melonite treated so they last longer, should go 3 times longer than a stainless. Pretty important when you start shooting 200 shots a day at Pdogs.
SPR contour .850 UTG, .750 GB and .730 out front so more like a walking varmint weight.
The bad news is Aug. every barrel manf is running 3 shifts and can't keep up. I'm still waiting on 556 and 6.8 barrels that were ordered the first week of Oct.
