Has anyone here ever used the 6mm ppc to predator hunt? If
so, what type of load did you use for coyote? I have loaded the 70 gr. Speer Matchking (target ammo, but very explosive) thus far but have not used it yet. Has anyone loaded the Hornady 58 gr. V-max in this caliber with what results? This particular rifle is the Ruger 77 Mark II Varmint with the 1-14 twist rate and 26 inch barrel. Any information would greatly
be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
 
I have an ARS custom mini-30 in 6ppc, 20" 1/12 twist lothar walther barrel, have shot 2 fox and 4 deer with the 55 gr nosler ballistic tip. It is tremendously hard on fox hides and kills deer like the hammer of thor. I'm loading a max load of H322 touched off by a cci BR small rifle primer, in my semi auto, it shoots better than it ought to.

Thanks for the replies...hope to hear more. I am loading 27.0 grains of Varget behind the 70 grain Sierra Matchking with a CCI BR-4 Small Rifle primer. I have intentions of trying the 58 grain V-max. I was hoping someone had used the 58 gr. with my barrel twist. New to the ppc., had been using the ....Ruger 77/22 Hornet. Very satisfied with that gun but wanted more range and energy for coyotes...those unforgiving shots you sometimes have. Once again thanks for the replies and any more info I can get. Ridgerunner could you tell me the range and destruction of the 58 gr. on the foxes?
 
The 6ppc was build around the 68gr match bullet. Powder of choice is T-32,H-322,V-133 or 8208. I've got one with a 1/15 twist barrel for the 65gr bullets my other ones all have a 1/14 twist. The 70gr Nosler BT is a good bullet on on varmits for the 6ppc. I've never shot a 58gr so really cann't comment and I've never used anything heavier than a 70 gr bullet either. I've got a 6x284 and 6mmrem both with 1/14 twist barrels so when I need a step up in velocity I get a larger caliber rifle. Problem maybe with the 58gr bullets is oal of the bullet may have too much of a jump to my thinking. If it's made on a 70gr jacket should be alright. The 6ppc has always shoot better groups at the higher velocity. I'm an ex BR shooter but still have afew 6ppc's and just getting a rem 700 6ppc ready for a Wy varmit trip. I picked up some of those first lots of 8208 also have some Scott 3032 and have been using those powder for the ppc. I've got a Ruger #1 6ppc has a tight neck Hart 1/14 twist barrel and it's a pretty good shooter. Most of the barrels for the 6ppc have always been around 20" may get alittle better velcoity with the longer barrels have never help for smaller group size. I've got one 6ppc with a 20" barrel on a 40x action and that give me some of the smallest groups outside of my BR rifles. Wish I could of been more help.
 
Jack, If you have a question sure like to hear it on the 6ppc instead of the ?????. I've got alot of shooting time with a 6ppc,22ppc,22walldog,6br,6brshortentalldog and 22br in the BR game. Lee Six,Kelby,K&P,Speedy,Hammond,Skip Otto and Dowling have build my BR rifles.

Bruno's and Berger make a longer 6mm bullet that works well if your rifle is alittle long throated. Bergers are called Match High BC Flat Base bullet 66gr,69gr and 88Gr. The ones I've used from Bruno are the 8 ogive FB 68gr bullets. I just ordered afew boxes of the 88gr to try in a 6mmremAI.
