6mm rem

just acquired a m77 6mm rem and Im wondering if anyone would know if ar comp would be a decent powder for this round? Alliant has no data for this, they suggested R19 or 2000mr but since i have a surplus of ar comp id like to try it if I can.

Im looking to shoot 70 or 85gr sierras and in the 243 alliant only lists ar comp for the 70 and 80gr pills, i know the cases are different but since they are so similar is a powder that is suitable for one suitable for the other??

I used to have a tang safety Ruger 6mm. Put lots of ammo thru it too. Sold it a few years back and replaced it with a Cooper Pheonix in 6mm. I've used a few different powders like Varget, H380, both 4895's, H414 and a few others. The two that really shot well in my rifles were H380 with 55 to 70gr bullets in the Ruger. With this Cooper I tried Hybrid 100v and was really impressed. It shoots just about anything for a bullet in the 75 to 95gr range. I havnt tried anything heavier yet but doubt I would have to change powder to do it.

I've never heard of AR Comp, must be newer as I can't find it on the charts.

Contact Alliant and they will give a recipe. They don't list all the options on line. The guy that will give you an answer is real good to deal with.

I like Reloder 22 with my 100 grainers.

ya its newer and IIRC its supposed to be slightly faster than varget.

I emailed them, they told me they have no data for this application. didnt say its not a good choice or will or wont work just that they havent tried it

I have not used AR Comp, but I believe it will work if you use the 243 Win data for a guide line. How well it will work will be for you to decide. I would look to other powders my self. RL-19 is outstanding in my 6mm.

Yes you did, and it still shoots just as good as ever. I burn mostly Varget behind some 75gr V-maxes. They coyotes hate it.

So far the only powder I have tried in my 6mm is Varget. Shoots darn good. I have been told by a few members here that RL19 is a great powder pushed by a Win primer. Going to try that powder behind a 80gr. BT next.

Here is a target pic I took. Shooting the 87gr. Vmax. Primer is a Federal 210m. The 5 shot group of 40.7 is the best. I pulled one shot. The other 4 shots basically in the same hole. My buddy measured the 4 shot group and it measured .133.

Yep Smokeless, seems RL19 is quite popular. The one thing I don't like about it already is the price. Seems they only sell it in 1lb. and 5lb. jugs. The 5lb. jug sells for $110. I can get 8lb. of Varget for less than $150.

Still going to try the RL19 though.

Dang MGYSGT!! I thought I was paying a lot. If I buy more than one 8lb. jug, I get it for even less!!
