6mm Remington brass and ammo

I'm not able to find any cases or loaded ammo. I will be calling the Remington ammo plant tomorrow to see if they have dropped this round from their offerings. Will do the same with Hornady.
In the meantime if someone knows where I can get some new brass please let me know. Thanks

Good luck! seriously go to the classifieds on some of the boards like this one, 6br, 24hr CF and place a WTB add I've seen some WW 6mm brass sell on both boards recently someone has some stashed.
I've been necking down Norma 7x57, 257 Roberts would work as well, I also just made some from 30-06 brass but thats a little more work

I'm in the same boat 17, I cannot find 6mm brass anywhere. I have been thinking about getting some Lapua 30-06 brass and converting it to 6mm to get me by. From what I understand the factories only do seasonal runs on calibers that are not as common, so you just have to wait until they get around to it. I have however seen Remington, Federal, and Hornady loaded ammo available recently.

I just formed some from Lapua 30-06 brass it was real nice to work with, BTW Lapua also has 8x57 brass now but its more $ than the 06 brass

You can often find Rem 6mm brass on Gun Broker dot com. They have some 4sale now. It's not cheap at $50 per 50 but when you can't find any and you need it, you do what ya gotta do. Good luck on your search.

I load for the 244AI, 257AI & 7x57AI - With the 6mm/244 being made from the 7x57m (Parent) case; cases can be formed from any of the 06 family of brass. I use a 7x57 Mauser form and trim die by Redding. As an example run a 30-06 case into the die, cut off the excess file smooth and remove. You now have a formed 7x57m case, from here you can neck it down to 6mm/244 Remington. Watch the necks as this will likely increase their thickness and require neck turning. I have crafted several 30-06 case this way with great results.
Good luck

17 Freak,

I run across factory loaded 6mm Remington frequently here in Montana at several different stores. Most of it is Federal brand in their generic gray and black box, but other is Federal Premium and I recall some Winchester Super-X 100 grain Power Point as well. Less frequently I see some new component brass in both Winchester and Remington.

Regards,

Mark

Two or three panics ago, I added a few bags of new Winchester 6mm Rem. brass, to the couple of bags I had...Very happy about that decision now.

I couldn't find any new 6 Rem brass anywhere either. I ended up ordering 100 new Norma 7X57 brass from Midway and resized it to 6mm Rem. Put it up into my Forster seater die then put on a little Imperial sizer wax and ran the case up into my Forster FL die. Tried it with my old Pacific dies and the expander was too tight for me to get the pilot of my Forster neck turner into the sized case so I used my Forster sizer die and had a couple thousandths to work with to get my neck turner mandrel into. You will probably need to turn the necks if you use the 7X57 brass. Norma makes great brass. I tried doing this with Win brass and it was way to brittle/thin. Should have annealed it first. Rem bras in my opinion is way better thAn win brass and is more forgiving than win brass for this type of endeavor in my experience. Norma is pricey but it is better than the Rem brass. I took the necks thickness down to .013 and am running about .002 neck tension. All this work was for an old 788 in 6mm that I am very fond of. It's more work but you will have some great brass when your done. Good luck

Thanks for the replies guys. I have managed to find some cases that an old friend had stashed and forgotten about. My 260 Rem barrel has finally given up the ghost and the reason I have been searching for brass is that I will be using the 6mm this fall for high power silhouette. It shoots lights out with Hornady 105 A-Max at 2931 fps. I'm so impressed with the accuracy that I'm going to try it on coyotes instead of the 65 V-Max which has worked very well for me in the past. A little less than 9 minutes at 500 meters with a 200 meter zero is something I can live with.
By the way, Remington ammo plant told me last week that they were shipping the latest run of 6mm 100 grain PSP starting this week. There was no record of just brass in this run.

Buying factory ammo just for the brass might be your best option, I have a Ruger so I have some brass put back, hope they didn't stop production.
