The first rifle I ever bought was a Remington M700 in 6mm Remington. I loved that rifle. It was accurate, flat shooting and one day I got stupid for an hour or so and traded it for something else(I can't even remember what, that's how supid I was at that moment) I went back to buy it back a few day later and it was gone.
Now I have a old Herter's J9 (Yugo made Mauser action) and it shoot's just as good as the Remington. This one is going nowhere.
I've never shot deer with a 6mm, only chucks, foxes and other vermin and don't own a 25-06, but judging from the ballistics tables I would give the 25-06 a the edge on deer sized game. It will handle 117-120 grain bullets, while the 6mm maxes out at 100-105 grains as far as hunting bullets goes.
My advice. Buy both, a man can never have too many guns!
