Finally got out today to do some more shooting. Been working with 15 hornady bthps
Seems I couldn't get a seating depth to shoot better than 2-1/2" or so! I went from 15k jam to almost 2.9" OAL. Was using h4831 and imr 4831
I got a 8 lb jug of retumbo for a local Comercial loader for 160 and no tax I was gonna use in my 7 mag. Since the 4831 wasn't working figured what the crap.
Wasn't sure of a max load so I went from 54gr to 58gr in .5 gr increments and with the bullet 5k in lands blew 2 primers with the 58gr charge. All the loads shot under or at 1"
Took the 58.5 and worked seating depth with it from 3.235 down to 3.635. All 3 shot groups and using 25-06 Norma brass sized down and trim of 2.500. Today I took the best out to shoot again to check. Think I'm gonna stick with the 3.195. Haven't Dan them through a crony yet. Maybe tomorrow
The two on the right. The top was 3.205 the bottom was the 3.195 none showed pressure. I might work that up .1gr till I see pressure again. These were shot at 200 yards with a sled and a little right left wind.
Here's the rifle minus a new bolt handle I put on it. The top left shots were 3 that I used at 56 as fowlers since I did a good clean on it before hand. Still want to try some light bullets in it but I've got to much wind to fight here constantly to worry about it.
