6mmBR build

I have several, first I wouldnt go with a barrel that long.
What bullet would you like to shoot?
I have had 8 twist and 12 twist, they both will shoot great at 600 yds but with different weight bullets of course.
With a 12 twist you could also use it as a varmint rifle.
I always had tight neck chambers but now use no turn with a reamer made to tighter tolerances.
Lupua brass is that good.
Any more questions,just ask!

What lenght barrel would you get? I was thinking Lupua brass. I have read that is last a long time and that the 6BR is easy on brass. I am not to a point yet where I can chamber my own barrel or make my own stock.lol I just want to put it together and when people ask about it, I can say I did all the work. What weight bullet is best out to 600 with an 8 twist?

For 6mm bullets this is a great place to start Precision Ballistics Nice guy to talk with just make sure you got plenty of time cause he likes to talk.

I would go with either a 24 or 26 inch barrel.
Now the 1 n 8 twist that I shoot now was built to shoot 105 gr bullets but shoots the best with 95 gr bullets.
I have shot sub 3 inch groups with the 95 berger at 600 yards.
One thing for sure is the 6 br is a great cartridge!
Any other questions just ask.
I could hook you up with a new savage 6br barrel to your specs with a quick turn around time.

If you look at bottom picture on site I post 1000yd egg shoot you will see wind flags on right side facing range.

NBRSA 600yd match does same thing wind flags be along the side of the range and you may have wind flags back of the firing line. Here is picture 600yd and see range flags left side facing range

Amen!

The hickory groundhod shoot does a 500yrd egg shoot after the match every year. 1 shot, you hit it or you don't, NO WINDFLAGS, no sighters allowed. About 8-14 people average hit it every year. Maybe they are doing it wrong...

The 105 class bullets shoot great 600 yards plus. I have found the sierra 107 & berger 105's (hybrid & hunting VLD) to be noticably better than the Amax in accuracy dept. Most guys I shoot with are running 28" barrels in 600yrd guns. Don't be afraid of a 26" but I wouldn't go much (if any) shorter for a "bench" gun. That said my 20" 6br calling rifle has no trouble banging steel at 500 yards, just needs a bit more dope.

I've got a 6BR on a Stevens action using a Criterion 28" bull barrel with a bedded Bobby Hart stock. It took quite a bit of work fitting the bull barrel to a varmint stock but it was definitely worth the work. It's a bit front heavy but some bag adjustment fixed that. Darn thing shoots some incredible groups and cleanup is a breeze. A 6BR is very easy to load for as so far everything I've ran through it shoots very well. Best load so far is the 105 AMax's with 30.1 gr Varget just touching the lands. Shoots sub 1/2" groups at 200 yds. Good luck with your build.

6BR is a great round. Mine is running through an Arisaka action with an unknown 24 "- 1" diameter barrel on it. With some old walnut stock under it. Weighs a ton but shoots great form the bench. Paid $125.00 at an action for it about 6 years ago. Would not get rid of it for anything. Its an easy round to load and shoot.
