6x45 bullet for deer?

First big disclaimer; I do not own a 6X45...yet. It's the only item on the very short list of new uppers I have planned.

That said, I've been researching .243 bullets and found what I hope will be my "go to." Midway lists the 80gr Speer Deepcurl as coming soon in 6mm. It is the same bullet construction as used in the 64gr .223 Gold Dot ammunition I run for coyotes. I've had awesome, no-fail performance on coyotes at all ranges and from any angle.

I even used it on a mule deer that showed up when I snuck away to call coyotes during my 2010 mule deer hunt. I shot the deer behind the shoulder at 70-some, almost 80 yards and got massive damage and a complete pass through. After that shot, he was dead, but not down. I gave him another one through the shoulders. That little bullet broke both shoulders and exited the far side. I realize that's only two shots, but the performance was exemplary.

Needless to sy, the 80gr Deepcurl will end up in some of the first rounds I load for my new 6X45.

I was looking at the 80gr deep curl bullets about six months a go on Midway and they were listed as coming soon then. I don't know what the story is with them but I wouldn't expect them being available anytime soon.

Awww man!
It seems like Speer don't wanna make money sometimes. I don't care if they call them Gold Dots, Fusion, or Deepcurl, if they had those bullets widely available, the word would get out and they'd sell all they could make.

I wouldn't mind seeing a range of weights in 6mm and .223. I'm sold on them.

i shot a 200# whitetail this year with a 6x45, one shot drop.... my load was 95gr nosler bt 24grs imr4895 remington br primers... it groups really well in my rifle...

Well I loaded the 85 seirra with H335 it shot really nice. But after my trip to Texas with Tony i forgot to grab the 85's and left to go deer hunting with a clip full of 55 nosler bt's. I shot a small doe at about 10 yards broadside it blew a like 2.5" hole straight through the deer and exploaded the heart. It's not going to be my deer load by no means but it did work. I'm a fan of big bullets and my buddy says speed kills? To each his own, but speed did kill on this one really quick
