6x68 or 25x68 ?

Ok I'm starting to convince myself the 25x68 might be for me a few questions

I would like to possible run upwards of a 90 gr bullet maybe even the 100 gr ballistic tip is the case short enough to do this?

Any issues necking down the brass? Meaning thick necks. I had an issue with this when necking 7mag brass down for 257 wby.

Finally how available is brass.

All of this would be done instead of the 25x45

I have shoot 100 gr Nosler's as well as 100 gr Sierra's in my 25X68 all from the magazine. They shoot very well. Making brass is easy. One die and a bushing. I have necked the 6.8 case all the way down to 20 caliber. The 25X68 I have is set up so you don't have to worry about thick necks. Brass is getting easer to find. SSA just turned loose a run of it. You can also buy once fired brass for about 300 per 1000 from LWRC.

Yes I did. I have shot about 1/2 dozen or so whitetails with the 25DTi with that bullet.

It is not worth the small gain for me. I do plenty for my bolt rifles.
I do appreciate you weighing in on this subject. I am leaning strongly on the purchase of a second barrel in the 25 cal.

As far as fire-forming that for me is a non-issue because I take new formed brass hunting just like unformed as they perform equally well.... or better than I am capable of shooting.

Thanks for the reply, I was wondering about the performance of the 85 NBT on deer.

I know this is an older thread, but I finally got around to registering and figured I'd share some real world data on the BHW 25x6.8. My rifle is setup with an 18" barrel, mid-length gas system.

Brass is once fired FC from LWRC, resized using a Redding type S with bushings, Wolf SRM primers. Average shooting conditions are 80-90°, 30% humidity and sunny. I need some more powders and bullets for better testing., but so far everything fired has been as accurate as I am able to shoot.
