72 year old Texas Grandma Tasered During Traffic Stop

The whole thing that bugs me is this. Nobody in these traffic stop things ever asks for an attorney. They have that right, but never do. Worse yet, they try to be thier own attorney and that makes matters worse. In a perfect world, granny should have had her attorney on speed dial and waiting on her cell before that cop got out of his car.

Its so easy, you just say LAWYER and the whole ballgame stops. Simple. No matter what the LEO does to you this should be the only word they ever hear from your mouth. Just politely say "I want my Lawyer."

Lawyers are people who are trained to talk to cops. Why not relax and let the pros handle it?

Lawyer doesn't stop a traffic citation at the scene, I wont even talk to them and will just hang up the phone on them and give it back to the driver. Arizona VS Miranda only made it so Law Enforcement can't continue asking you questions about a crime when you request an attorney. This does not mean you can disobey a lawful order etc. So the whole ballgame does not stop, not by a longshot. Don't break the law and be an a**hole when stopped and you don't have any problems, I've been stopped and ticketed for speeding myself, didn't get beat up, pepper sprayed or tazerd. Guess my parents taught me right from the beginning.
Miranda who was so famous for having our right to an attorney pointed out to us was incidentally killed in a bar fight, stabbed I think. Anyhow his killer was advised of his miranda rights and refused to speak to the police. Kharma I say.
It would be interesting to see this "Grandma's" arrest record. You don't just wake up one day and act like that, my guess is she has been a problem all her life and now is just a problem hiding behind her age, sad all around. I'm glad noone got hurt or killed.

That's exactly right. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Whether you're 72 or 22 don't mouth off to the cops. Maybe she'll think twice about shooting her mouth off next time.

I hereby revoke her Texas citizenship.

You shouldnt disobey a lawful order, but you should absolutely shut your mouth. Talking only makes things worse, it NEVER helps.

Here is a little Youtube clip I found. Its in two parts.
The first is a defense attorney saying basically the same thing. If the examples he cites dont scare you witless, the second part, is a cop THAT AGREES with him hopefully will.
