75 gr V-Max's and My 6x45

So I got done building my 6x45 AR earlier this year and have been trying to develop a load for the 75 gr V-Max's. After consulting several members and researching prior to the build, it didn't seem as though this would be difficult. The AR is a 18" midlength standard bbl with a 1/10 twist. I have also been experienting with 60, 70, and 85 gr Sierra's as well and they all shoot great so definately not a complete loss, but I built the rifle with the intent of the 75 VMax's being "my load". Mostly been using H335 and AA2015 and can't get something nailed down. Anyone have any other suggestions or should I just scrap the VMax's.

I assume it is not grouping well with the 75gr Vmax? The powders you listed are very good ones for the 6X45 so I would look at maybe using the 70gr Sierra Blitz-King or the 75gr Hornady HP varmiter bullet.

Tried 70 grain Nosler B-tips? Up here they are about the same price and I always found them to shoot good in my .243 bolt gun.

Wish I could use my AR to hunt up here.

That is a minimum load of H335 with that bullet in the 6X45mm. You may want to try a little higher load to see if that tightens your groups. Sierra lists 26.2 as a max with that weight bullet so I would work up to there to see if you find a sweet spot since you really want to use that bullet.
I have gotten great accuracy with the 75gr and 25.0 gr of H335 and it's a mild load in my gun.

My 6x45 would not group any of the plastic tip bullets very well. I have had my best luck with seirra hp in 60-75gr with either benchmark or 8208.

You need to up your charge. Vmax's have a small bearing surface anyway so you definately need to go up in charge. I stuffed more than 1 grain more of powder in a 75 Vmax case before pressure than the 70 Ballistic...

I's up the charge and if H335 is no good, try some TAC. TAC and H35 with the 75Vmax were tied in accuracy and speed, speed was right at 3K, or 2990.

I didnt have much luck with that bullet (75 vmax), ended up with the 60 gr HP varminter (1500) from sierra. I dont think th ecoefficient is ggod but its a HP flat base, the orgive seems to be more forward. Performs well. We now use them in the 243 as well.

I got this load from here: 60 gr HP in front of 27.2 gr benchmark, COL 2.62 (AR)

I would like to thank everyone for their help. Finally got back to the range this morning to try some higher charges. To say that I was dissapointed would be an understatement. Just ran a little ladder test from 25.0gr up to 26.5gr with H335 and the 75gr VMaxs. The results weren't bad; they were freaking HORRIFIC! I think the VMaxs are going to be up for sale soon on the classifieds

I had some shots that were not hitting the cardboard at 100 yds, little own the target. I think this is the first time I haven't been able to get a load dialed in and it is really trying my patience.

Just an afterthought...this is a BHW bbl and wondering if anyone is shooting that bbl/bullet specifically with good results? Maybe something else going on with my gun?...guess I am rambling now and thinking out loud.....

I have a BHW barreled ar15 in 5.56. With little load development it shoots 55gr sierra gamekings very nicely. (0.6" 5 shot groups at 100 yards) if I were you I would ditch the v max bullets and stick with the sierras. I have been nothing but happy with the BHW barrel. Haven't tried any v max in it though... Good luck

I have not tried the 75g vmax, but the 65g vm & 70g NBT print cloverleafs at 100 yds in my 24" 6x45 gun.
I use AA2015 & H335 also.

I use AA2015 and interchange bullets between 70 Sierra HPBT, and 70 g. Nosler BT's. I would try win748 its a good powder for the 6x45.

I have 0 experience with the 6x45 but varget works great in my 223. Some hate on it but it might be worth a try in the 6x45.

Im shooting nosler BT 70 gn and H335 with around 1/2-3/4 inch groups with a BHW 18 inch barrel. I don't have my load data here but did very little load development. My gun did not like varget. I went to the range with about 3 loads of H335 one of them shot well and havn't really had time to tweek my load to see how accurate I can get it. But it has been the hammer of thor on coyotes. Every one I have hit has gone strait down.

I have a 20in BHW in 6x45 and I really wanted to shoot the 70nbt but gave up on them. Switch to the sierra 60-75gr Hollow points with either benchmark or 8208 and they are night and day difference in groups from the 70gr NBT even with the same powder. I am seating them at mag length. I have tried 8-10 different powders and 7-8 different bullets with all different seating depths. I finally forgot about the plastic tip bullets and the first couple of powders(the one listed above) gave me some really good groups.
