Hopefully, we'll have a new 7/08 in a few days, and I'm like a kid in a candy store getting my planning done.

I know there a many powders that work well with this case, and I have IMR4064 and H4350 on hand. Planning on loadind 120 and 140 initially.

What are you guys loading, and what were your results with these 2 powders?

Thank you gentlemen!

I load for two of them for the in-laws. I just picked a load out of the accurate manual, a middle of the road charge of A4350 behind some Hdy 139 gr blems. Seated to the cannelure so I wouldn't get questions of "why is this bullet out too far". Both rifles shoot them sub moa (which is far more capable than the shooters in this instance) so everyone is happy.

I think either of the powders you have could work really well.

I load 120's and 139's. H4350 for the 139's and RL15 for the Barnes 120's. I also like H414 behind the 139's, well, at least the rifle does.

My pet load is a 120 Nosler BT over Ramshot Big Game for 3050 fps, but Big Game is nowhere to be found. I am on my last pound right now. For 120s Varget and RL 15 are popular, so I may have to try one of them if Big Game doesn't show up soon. For 139 Hornady SPs, I use H4350 or Big Game.

I have been loading for the 7mm-08 for about 10 years. I have one target rifle and one hunting rifle that I load for. Maybe I just have some great barrels, but I seriously haven't seen a bad load for the 7mm-08!!! I did have real good results with 4064...41.0 grains to be exact, behind a 139 grain Hornady SST. I was very impressed with this loads accuracy, but I am even more impressed with the way it slams a whitetail.
Unless you have new brass and especially if you don't know how many times it has been fired I would definitely suggest annealing the cases. You don't have to, but if it's accuracy in a small group you are looking for I would do it. I also found that most cases should have the flash hole deburred.

IMR 4064 is a fine powder for the 7mm-08 and depending on where you live is still quite available. However, I have had more luck with Re19 with 140 grain bullets and heavier. Some like the W760 with loads similar to the .243 Winchester. I hope you enjoy the round, I have shot it for over 25 years and it is my go-to for deer and hogs. I took a 280# boar in Georgia this year with a 160 grain Nosler Partition and at about 75 yards it almost made it through the entire length of the hog. Now that's performance.

I load for 3 different 708's. The only bullet I have ever used is the hornady 139 sp. Excellent groups on paper and excellent results on deer and bear. I settled on varget, but every powder I tried the results on paper were great. Ackleymans load with the 130 speer is next on my list to try. I have heard him talk this up and I'm going to give it a shot.

I have been using H4895 and Speer Boat tails in mine for the last few years. The Speer 130 grain boat tails have shot very well and given excellent performance on deer. I am using the 145gr boat tails on pigs that typically weigh 200 pounds plus with good results. Like others have said all of the bullets and loads I have tried have shot pretty well. I also use the Remington 140 gr Core Lokt from time to time and it is excellent as well.
