Have you got a chance to crono your load??? Just curious because I see a lot of variation in charge weight/velocity with RL-22 and 140g bullets in the 7 RM. I know theres many things that factor velocity, but I guess it just depends on where you look for data also.
I used 68.5g for 3250fps according to the crony cronograph, I know not the best but.. Anyways, I was shooting at 800 yards for the first time with that load. IT called for a certain amount of MOA and I ended up being about 3 MOA low. Now either my velocity isn't really 3250fps, or the BC of the 140g NBT really isn't .485, or my Leupold VX3 LR 6.5-20x50 scope isn't really 1/4" clicks. Now I worked out this whole ordeal and I'm gonna just say I dont really know what to believe as far as velocity. I've talked to many people that shot this bullet to 700-800 yards and they said it was pretty dang close to being .485. For me to be 3 MOA low at 800, my BC would have to around .350 for the 140g NBT. I doubt its that low. However, I"m only 700ft above sea level...To the next problem. Velocity says 3250fps, if I was hitting 3 MOA low, my velocity would only be about 3075fps, indicating my crony is giving false readings. I was also told to check my scope to see if its giving true 1/4" values. I did this by dialing up 20 MOA, or 80 clicks at 100 yards. I should have hit 20" high from my aiming point, well I hit 20.5" so my scope was pretty dead on as far as clicks. So what did I gather from all this?? 1 of 2 things, either my crony is broke and im not getting 3250fps with a 140g bullet, more like 3075fps, or the BC of the 140g NBT isn't .485 and closer to .350 in my area under my conditions. All I know is that it doesn't shoot as flat as it should, I'm kinda dissappointed, but its pretty accurate so I think I"ll just stick with it.
