7mm rem mag sight in question

I dont have a lot of range area around to shoot so Ive always sighted my guns in at 1.5 inch high at 75 yds. Its always seemed to work good. I shot 1 deer at around 225 and hit in the spine and another at 40 yds and also hit high. I am second guessing my sight in with the 7mm compared to my other guns now. I am new to the 7 mag and need opions on where impact should be with this round. They are reminton core lokt 150 gr. Any opinons appreciated. It could just be me too but I ve always been a pretty steady shot.

I also held higher on the 225 yd shot so maybe its just high close? I need to shoot but just trying to get an idea before i go out.

Lots of opinions on this subject. My two cents say zero at 200. Where that is at 100 will depend on your bullet-rifle-load. You will still need to check hold over at 300 and 400. Farther than that, sneek closer.

Sneak closer, I like it. LOL. 357, thats what i m thinking. Im not really used to shooting such a flat shooter either so i guess PRATICE.

What ammo Re you shooting? Really gonna have to shoot farther to know but I could get you close. I zero mine at 300. That 2.75" high at 100 this time of year

I don't know the printed velocity of your Remington Round but looking at a reloading manual I'd guess its in the neighborhood of 2800 fps to 2900 fps.

So also guessing you have a scope, you'll have two zero points in the curve of the bullet flight. The bullet starts about 1.5" low and you say it's 1.5" high at the first 75 yards, that puts the first zero is closer, probably at about 23 yds. That puts the second zero out at about 240 yds. So the bullet is above your crosshairs in between these two distances, but probably not more than 3.5"

Which could translate to 3.1" high @ 100, 2.5" high @ 200 yds, and 4.5" low at 300 yds.

However calculated/computerized guessing can't replace more shooting so find a good range and practice.

For the factory ammo it shows 3110fps in a 24" gun. Not saying that will be yours though. Here's a chart for it if you do a 50yard zero. It comes back to zero just about 200yds.

I have a Rem 700 BDL in 7mm Rem Mag. While I prefer to sight it 1 1/2" high on the hundred yard range I can sight it dead on at 35 yards and achieve the same thing.
