What are the differences between the 7mm STW and the 280 AI? I understand that 280 Rem ammo could be used in the 280 AI so there is more versatility in the what is available. How do the ballistics compare between these two rifles? I would most interested in using the either one in a hunting rifle. Any comments on the two rounds would be appreciated.

Stw is on an 8mm mag case , 80+ grains of powder. Rabid speeds with 140's
and lighter bullets.

my 7mm STW will run 140's at a chrony'd speed of 3550 fps, 160's run 3340 fps, I run charges up to 94 gr of very slow burning powder.

Yea the STW is about 30gr more than the max load of R-22 in the .280AI. The .280AI is basically a 7mm Rem Mag with better brass life and it's just somethin different than the norm!
I own both and the stw is at about 3500 with 140 gr bullets and 280ai at about 3100 with 140 gr bullet. STW 80 gr of reloader 22 and 280 ai at 64 gr of reloader 22. STW is and has been like lightning on whitetails I taken from NC to Canada. But who can complain I never had one take a step from 280ai either. Well placed shots make all rifles look good. I would say STW will do at 400 yards what 280AI at 300 yards. Not a pro just my .02. If You think I'm wrong let me hear it guys.( 8mm rem brass necked to 7mm and nosler 280ai custom brass is what I have been using)
