$80 BCG's

I should have ordered the one from JB awhile back when a charging handle was a bonus with purchase.
I first disassembled and cleaned the bolt up and removed a end mill shaving or two. Lubricated BCG, grabbed the `beater rifle`, a handful of ammo and stepped outside to try it out.
Out of a total of eight rounds it only fired two rounds consecutively on two occasions.
At first glance it looks as if the bolt is not returning forward far enough and it fails to strip a round from the magazine.
I have some other chores to get done but will examine a little further later on this evening.
The bolt was marked MPI and I don't recall ever seeing that on any other of my bolts.

Hmmm. That's disheartening. Did yours come packaged in a cardboard mailing tube? I'm trying mine out this weekend when I get home.

Yes came in a cardboard tube. Shipped in a very large(considering)box.
Well, if it works itself out, I don`t see it being ALL that bad of deal, but yes so far...we`ll see.
Not having a huge deal of knowledge on bolt material grades and such, I bought it thinking, 8620, ok that's decent material..and it is, apparently just not for the bolt itself.
Like you mentioned though, for the casual user ie. not going into a full auto or select fire M16 and onto the battlefield, might work just fine.

For sure live n learn knowing now, I definitely would have coughed up another $50 for the `real McCoy`.

Same deal on my end. I'll report back to you on my results. Given what you described with your test firing, I'd check your gas key for any debris/chips just in case.

Update; So I took the BCG back apart and clean/lube. Grabbed 20 rnd. P-Mag loaded with 50g V-Max to give the bolt another try. Fired off ~10 rnds w/out a hitch. went and grabbed the mag. I tried yesterday and put 5 rnds. of the same loads from yesterday. Again it worked w/out a hitch. So far the bolt looks like it is holding up ok.
Not sure what the problem was but upon the initial and then again on the second time(ETA-cleaning of BCG) a small sliver of what appeared to be red plastic come out from somewhere. Red Loc-Tite that had set-up?
Anyhow it seems to work now, but as far as future purchases...
Thanks for those who posted the `painful truth` about these BCG`s.
