Tom Bechdal gave a calling seminar to the Lagrange Hunt Club the first weekend of Oct. Monday Oct 4, on the way out of town, he struck and killed the largest coyote he had ever seen. He called members of the club to the scene. They weighed and measured the coyote. 82 lbs. 49 inches from nose to root of tail(length does not include tail)38 inches from toe pads to top of back. Color was grey with black guard hairs. Coyote was frozen whole and is presently in the freezer of the hunt club treasurer. Obviously canis latrans var. is migrating west.

Rich in AZ - That is simply incredible! I would love to see him when he is stuffed. Did anyone at the club get any pics we can see?

Its got to be an awesome sight! If anyone gets any extra info, please post.

Thanks, Sleddogg

Yup we get them up to 70 lbs up here too. Even bigger farter north where there has been some hybridizing reported by MNR with wolves tt

If I ever had an 82 pound Coyote comming at me I would leave my wallit and run. Like that song give me 3 steps /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If I saw one that big in Minnesota, I sure as hell wouldn't shoot it. Just my luck it would be a timber wolf and I'd sit in jail for the rest of my calling season.

Hey Sleddog, there's another reason to hunt out of tree stands LOL.

I've seen some pretty big coyotes, but that has to have been something. I too would like to see some news coverage of it, at least something from the Ohio DNR, maybe some DNA testing to see what it really was. Time will tell.

Arrangements are being made for DNA testing and examination by Fish and Game. A full body mount will be made and it will accompany Mr. Bechdal when he presents his calling seminars. Very cool.

Oh, YA!

I would like to see a pic of that big boy!

I heard some info on it just today from a friend, didnt know if it was true or not. Then when I got on here I seen this post! Gess he was right. I sent an E-mail to the DNR here to see if they would give up any info.

I would love to see one like that come runnen in! That would be some awsome footage!

Are average seems to be 30-35# But we get a few every year in the 50# class. A few years ago I know of one that was trapped out of the local river bottom that was 68#. 50 is a big coyote, I would love to see one in the 80's! Better make the first shot count!

I'm a little bit skeptical....you mean to tell me a coyote that big is killed and NOBODY took a picture of it...............and a coyote hunters car is the one it runs in front of.........The jury is still out on that one. Me thinks Dan Rather should be put on this investigation.....

Won't believe it until I see a pic.Just like all the mountain lions we have running around here in PA.How come one has never turned up road-kill or even been photographed? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
