85 gr TSX .243's for deer

My sons use the 85gr XBT in their .243's,and we have had very good luck with them. I also use the 100gr XBT in my 25.06, and like it real well. I will try the triple shocks this year also. The deer we have killed with them, were killed instantly each time. For my money, Barnes is the only bullet for deer. As far as the range, most of our shots are in the 100 to 150 yd.range, and I have found both bullets to be very effective at those ranges. I would not be afraid to extend that to 200 or 250 if need be. I really like Barnes bullets, and I am sure you will as well. Hope this helps. dogcaller

Thanks! I needed conformation; 85's sounded perhaps too light for deer; but they were designed for it. I figured that because of penetration and weight retention, they would be better than 100 grainers.

In my opinion, which is worth about what you pay for it, The 85 gr Barnes, will do all that a 100gr soft point will do and more,I know that you will like them. dogcaller

I have used only Barnes X's (x, xlc, tsx)for my big game since around 1992. Just an outstanding bullet. My buddy used the 85gr TSX for an antelope @200yds and a mule deer buck at about 100yds. Both were bang-flops. The mule deer was facing him, and the bullet went through one lung and wound up in the intestines. I figure penetration was about 21/2-3 feet of deer.

Try them, you'll like them.

UT 7 I use a remington model 7400 in 6mm I reloaded this year using 90 gn nosler balistic tips, I shot a 175# bear at about 225 yds it went thru both sides, the bear ran about 100 yrds. I also shot a 200# white tail at about 250 yds it hit an broke a rib on the way in went thru both lungs and broke the far shoulder and lodged there the deer ran about 60 yds.
And best of all it is very accurate.

Hope this helps
