87 gr V max .243 loads with Varget

Gentleman,

After reading last weeks posts about the 87 gr V Max, I decided to buy some, but I don't have a Hornady manual.

I use Varget for the .243 and have a Rem 700 VS.

Anyone care to post their pet loads for the .243 with this bullet?

Hi Jim,

Hornady has a great support line for load recommendations. Just call 800-338-3220.

I have good accuracy for the 87gr with IMR4831 in 44grs. This is a near max load in my gun. Be sure to work up to this load carefully.

Hi Jim;

I have used 100 grain Hornady Interlocks, 100 grain Nosler BT's, and Sierra 85 grain HPBT bullets in my Browning A-Bolt Hunter 243.

I got the best accuracy with IMR4350 in my rifle for all three of these bullets.

For the Hornadys I did the best with 37.0 grains, and I got the best groups with 40.0 grains of IMR4350 with the Nosler 100 grain and the Sierra 85 grain bullets.

I couldn't get the Varget to do nearly as well as the IMR4350.

I shoot a 6x284 I use 52gr of H4350 behind 87gr V-MAX. In the summer I get 3,600FPS. Re Chamber your rifle and prepare for action.
