95gr Sierra tipped match kings in .243

Has anyone tried the 95gr tipped match kings on varmints or predators?
I shot some handloads over IMR4350 and they seemed fairly promising. They have a great B.C. but were on the slower side of my expectations.

They look interesting. But at typical sub-200-yard hunting distances the high BC offers very little or nothing while the heavy weight and slower speeds are sure to hinder the 243's velocity advantage as a varmint cartridge.

Its not exactly relevant but i used the 125 grain TMK in .308 this year on deer and they acted like a varmint bullet.
They worked great but no exit.
About 1" inside the hide the bullet started fragmenting and went about 7-8" deep. There was nothing left except red soup. And that was on a 350 yard shot from a 18" AR10.
I have it zeroed with them and really want to test on coyotes.

On the other hand i have a box of 95 grain TMK to test in a 6x47Lapua whenever i get it put together.

What was your load?

Barrels are very different in speed.

R#26 with a fed 215 will shock you in speed.

I was running 41.3 grs IMR 4350 @ 2820ish.
It's a 22" Ruger American predator. I'm contemplating setting it up for an informal 200-1000yd fun steel plate match for my daughter that would also work well for hunting as well.

Move the plate into the 400 yard range, you will be ok.

Also, there maybe a hotter node that will be accurate.

I probably ruined the idea for the factory 243. I took her up last weekend and she shot the custom 6BR 8 twist. She shot as well as I knew to dope the scope. She had 8 out of 12 hits between 800 and 900 yds. Last 3 shot were on steel at 900. Last two shots landed in the same paint splash at 900. She probably wont go for the factory rifle now. We had an exceptional time for sure! Little background, she has been ringing steel to 500 since she was real little. Now she's 14 and killed 12 deer. Her farthest to date was a nice 7pt at 325 with her factory American compact 243 with 95 gr ballistic tip handloads.

My go to is the 95 TMK over IMR4350 for yote and deer. Amazing accuracy and does a good job on yotes. No problems with this bullet not opening up.

She has claimed the 6BR. Now i'll have to let my wife shoot my new stick and build another!

Keith,

Rl-26 is great stuff, but Rl-16 is even better. Temp stable too!

They are definitely a bullet that would grab my attention but not really for varmint hunting or predators. Im with Dirty Dog. For hunting distances I'll take the lighter bullet. DD is why I went to the 55grBT.
