There were 3 but the other one hid while I was busy running down 1 and 2.

They are two, maybe three days old.

Only the second time in my life I've actually seen the young and still unable to fly chicks of these particular birds. They are sooooo well camouflaged at this age they are almost impossible to see unless they are moving.

OK, who knows what they are? I've got some other pics that shows them better. I'll post em later after we see if anybody can tell what they are from these pics..

If those are killdeer, and I too think they are, it is so cool to watch momma try to decoy you away from the young with the broken wing trick. Truly a marvel of nature.

WOW, you guys better stick with IDing predators, you're not very good with birds!

Sorry boys, those are genuine bald eagle chicks. I would of posted pics of their talons, but that would of made it way to easy.

Umm, Well Larry I guess that there was no broken wing tricks involved. However you may have had more than a broken wing had this momma so decided. Just a heads up, you might want to think about deleting your post as there are MASSIVE fines for even disturbing nesting Bald Eagles, let alone handling the nestlings. Just something to think about.

Two won't hardly make a snack, but three of them fried just right with a nice salad is some fine eating right there. Taste sorta like spotted owl...

Ok, I admit it...
doggin' confused me for a few seconds.

I also grew up seeing, & trying to catch killdeer out on our farm.
It always amazed me where they would sometimes decide to lay their eggs!
Although I saw many, many eggs, & mature birds, I don't recall seeing any of the chicks. Probably just wasn't looking at the right times.

But, my first thought was killdeer chicks.

Then, doggin' said "bald eagle". So, I looked up images of bald eagle chicks.
You got me, Larry, ya made me look.
But, nope those little rascals ain't eagle chicks. from what I found, not even close.

So...I'm once again saying killdeer, & that's my final answer. Hahaha
