A good fawn/deer in distress call?

I will be heading up to south central SD next weekend to hunt some yotes and the guy I am hunting with told me that there has been a few eye witness accounts of coyotes killing fawn where we will be hunting. Is there a good fawn distress call out there? I would like to try to stay with mouth calls if I could. Thanks for any help.

I've been wondering about the fawn distress call also. I've got a cheap Cass Creek handheld ecaller with fawn distress. Haven't tried it on stand yet though. I may have to now that 10 inches of snow just dumped on us. Plus we have very high deer numbers here.

Is anyone else using fawn distress? Any luck calling in coyotes with it. Calling in other species? Fox, or bobcat? Sounds funny, like a whiny house cat or even a bird.

Several years ago, I was using a Sceery fawn bleat. I haven't killed as many dogs with any other single call since my son lost that one. (Ya, it was his to start with but still)
 
Roach: Most of the open reed calls make a good fawn bleat. The Cronk Killer Call and the Sceery open reed both are excellent for that purpose.
 
Open reed calls are very hard to master, they are not for a novice unless you are an experienced duck caller. Open reed calls take a lot of manupilation of the lips, tongue, and breathing rythems to master.

The closed reed calls are best for a beginner. The Lohman Cierce MVP-3 is an adjustable call from a mouse to a deer and at the coarse setting, will sound like a fawn bleeting.

By the way, Rich is about a nice a fellow that you could ever deal with, and his calls are absolutely top notch, open reed and all.
 
Fawn on a hand call is easy, simply do the rabbit distress sound but instead of a 3/4 second Waahhhh, do a 3 second Waaaaaaahhhh at the end of the waaaahhhh don't start another one like a rabbit, wait longer, maybe 3 to 5 seconds before starting the next 3 second Waaaaahhhh.
