About to put a OCL Polonium (5.56) in Jail

While not my first can purchase, I've leaned in the past toward multicaliber cans. So I can switch between host, which at the time I felt was important.
(My exception was for the AR in 9mm SBR, I went with the YHM Wraith XL for sub guns, love it, LW, works well with subsonic)

This time I've decided to go somewhat more dedicated, went and looked this can, seen a lot that I do like about it.
The price point is where I wanted to be at. Preferred the extra baffle and length vs the K offering.
13.5oz @ 5.8" length
1.375×24 rear threads (HUB compatible)
OD: 1.625” ( so will allow my handguards to fit over the can)
Full Auto rated (within reason)
Nice Barrel length limitation range for SBR usage if desired.

Expectations of performance, I "think" it will be less gassy than the Omega 300, and maybe a little bit quieter. Although I don't know if I'll be able to tell, except for the 'tone" at the shooter's ear.

My original thoughts was for the AB Raptor 10 at double the cost, but the present day back order time put a brake on that idea. Hence the shift to this can (bird in hand vs two birds in bush concept).
Opinions have I lost my mind?
Am I a "victim of the addiction"? hahaha I'm pretty sure I know the answer to that one.

First things first, yes & yes🤣.
I picked up one of the Poloniums a month or so ago and really like it for a 5.56. I tried it on a pistol length 5.56 but couldn't get it gassed right. I need to find an adjustible gas block for that. I switched it to a 16" barrel with an agb and had it gassed in 4 or 5 shoots. After that, it shoots well and really helps with sound. It's not as quite as the Diligent Defense L TI, but that runs on a Gerndel.
Anyway, I think you'll like the Otter Creek.

@Sprinkman
Thank you for your quick reply LOL.
I had referenced the AB Raptor10 because it was a OTB design. After posting I went digging through the boys from Ky (OCL) low and behold a OTB mount holy do do ..... This could be a answer to my original thought?

@spotstalkshoot

LOL I actually almost have one, it's the defunct Krestel 9mm (308 rated)... Although for a rimfire it excessively heavy. No support (out of business). and probably won't or maybe could serve your needs, desires.
What my original plan was to have a can that I could shoot cast loads through. Hence the purchase of it. It works well enough although the Omega 300 blows it away in performance at the shooter's ear. The Krestel does do what it's intended purpose by design well enough, side note I have thought about clipping the k baffle to see if there is some enhancements. The main marketing point was a affordable serviceable can for the hunters. I'm sure there are better options than it out there, especially with no support.
Although I hit Like on both your post I really just wanted to thank ya'll publicly in a message for your posts'.
(hopefully most don't see it as me trying to have the last word)

Thank Ya'll for the replies
Regards
Mike

Well Folks the OCL is in Jail.
Paid for it today, now waiting on no Tax or is that Freedom day to some.
I still have some pre-emptive task to do.
As the place I went to uses silencer shop need to establish a account there.
Already have the log-in for e-forms for the Form 1 SBR's I did i n the past so no need to replicate that.
Now I sitting here wondering trust or simply do what I did in the past and do the individual filing.
I am considering shift my existing cans to a trust ... maybe, as it won't cost me $200.00 a pop. Just time scanning existing form 4 and uploading them via the e-forms site.

Looking forward to this new to me can.

and this

would convert the OCL to a OTB design / reflex with a as shipped direct thread which should work well with the 14.5" SBR M4 clone, the 24" Varmint AR, the 221 Fireball (Rim) on a Martini action, 22BR , and the 6mm cartridges.
additional the hub reflex will work with my existing omega 300 ;)

A off topic discussion, but relates to the can.
This will be my first experience with using Silencer Shop network.

My other cans was always paper submissions via a S.O.T. that was not hooked up via Silencer Shop network. Which went well, outside the 1 year wait / processing time on the DOJ side. To be fair the paper side at that time was at even/faster than e-forms at that time.
My SBR's I used eforms for my Form1 directly which went smoother than I expected.
Just curious if any had negative experience via the Silencer Shop method specifically. (not that it really matters I'm apparently married to to that process for this one.)

I've only used them once and my experience was great. Now a good friend of mine, he's used them for about 10-12 suppressors and to my knowledge he hasn't had any issues either. Most people I know go through them.

@DoubleLungRage
The ONLY weird thing I've experienced thus far was the LGS stated I needed to establish a Silencer Shop account that has a identical login as my e-forms account.
No Problem I'm thinking.
Actually not weird but actually not really clear in my mind set. So here I go to their website to do the account setup and, not a lot of information relating to what I thought was the process, when I hit the searches (my first mistake, as well as trying to outthink their system).
The result was a bunch of information that did not match what I was attempting to do. Even attempted a call to them, with no contact. Then It dawned on me to click on the sign-in account, and THEN create a new account. Of course this was HOURS after I started, but after that it was smooth sailing thus far. Uploaded the photo, and I'll use the Kiosk for the prints at a later date, prior to submission.
(I will say this I do like their site gives a lot of useful information, Although before attempting their version of "trusts" I would like to read it before buying. That said I fully understand why they don't publish it in the open. )

(added another thing I like about the plutonium and the K version is the baffle and end cap is actually 6mm although the can is listed as 5.56mm/.22 CF. Which obviously the 30 version is for 30 caliber bore size and smaller)

What are the current lead times for an AB Raptor?
I've heard that it will range from 4 weeks to 3 to 4 months .... I haven't attempted a call to AB to see what their production schedule is like.
So I don't know the times exact.
But from your two different post, I suspect they can have it for you by the time your ready to transfer.
Hope that helps.

Silencer Shop has the 7.62 Raptor 10 with 5" Bull Barrel Reflex in stock.

Nice…I’ve been wanting to try an Otter Creek
I just paid for a SilencerCo Spectre 9 on Saturday morning..Got my Form 4 email from Silencer Shop this morning and signed it, they should submit it tomorrow or Wednesday and then just have to wait for approval…My shop uses a Kiosk for pictures/prints, so super easy process…this will be my 3rd can.
Last one took 4 days from submitting to getting approved, so hoping for similar wait time.
Really looking forward to shooting the HK SP5 it’s going on.
Good luck and let us know how you like the Otter Creek

@greengt88 I seen that on the other thread. Absolutely great!!!!

Stopped in the LGS today where the OCL is in jail (currently paid for less $20.00) talked to them again while updating the fingerprints at the kiosk. answered the remaining question only leaving if I'm doing trust or individual as undecided.
I do like that I can watch the wait times daily on the silencer shop web site.
Which I "may" spring for the tax stamp even though my plan is to wait....
If I see a real uptick in processing time I'll probably pay the tax to avoid the tax.. Maybe IDK

ATF e-forms I've had that account for several years now so yeah it's good to go. (did several Form 1's in the past few years, yes I log in every so often and make sure all is GTG)
Silencershop account established and matches the ATF e-form account, fingerprints done, photo done, questionnaire done, only waiting on select type Trust or Individual
then the final step of click submit.

(side note the reviewers up there in WV NFA Branch, know me by name. As my middle name is very unique and stands out even though my first and surname is common)

I’m really tempted to get a few more. I have a feeling that once Jan 1st hits there is going to be turmoil with Wait Times, Suppressor Back Orders or No Availability, Lack of Accessories etc. And who knows what the Dems will do to throw a wrench in the gears of the 2A crusade. This could potentially backfire and the Tax will increase. Who knows at this point. It could go so many different directions.

There are a few ‘Free Tax Stamp’ deals to be had, depending what needs are.
The 3 cans I have are fairly universal and can be used on almost everything I have thats threaded. But it does get old swapping things around, much prefer to just grab and go.

I am planning to wait to Form 1 the HK once the tax is gone. Then it will just cost me for the required engraving. Or who knows what the process will be at that point.

Well good luck! Very interested to hear about the Otter Creek. That brand and CAT are at the top of my list to own.

Just got off the phone with SilencerShop and the sells person confirmed that yes the pressure has already started. And they expect it to increase as we get closer to 1 Jan.
Just a FYI for you.

(my purpose was to discuss their versions of trusts and suitability for my intentions)

With that being said on their website I've not seen a uptick trend in NFA processing times yet. (1-8 days, median 2 days)
Also checked the OCL OTB mount setup that I referenced in a earlier post, they are in stock now

My dealer is a Gold Level dealer for Silencer Shop and they said that it’s likely going to get crazy here soon with items backordered indefinitely, parts being out of stock etc.

So if you can swallow the $200 stamp, now’s the calm before the storm. My 3 cans cover everything I need immediately with ability to swap around. So anything else is just more for convenience at this point. I’d definitely like to get some more but think I have all my bases covered for the time being.
