About to put a OCL Polonium (5.56) in Jail

@greengt88 ...
The stamp cost is trivial in the grand scheme of things, although I really normally rather not pay it if I don't have to.
That being said I really would rather NOT have a 12 -18 month wait, after delaying processing what almost 6 months to go tax free?
I'm leaning so hard at just biting the bullet, and proceeding at the end of this month.
And going forward with submitting then. (I'm at approx 95% convinced to just pay the tax and go before you mentioned it LOL)

There is the fact that ATF will or may delay the publishing the "new" form 4 or even hiccups in e-forms with the tax free status. Wouldn't surprise me if the waited until last minute to prepare on their end.
(all of the things you stated in your earlier post I've already considered, and thought it is possible as well. So yeah we view it the same way)

OK Gents, went to the range today... I looked at their calendar wrong Closed ..
But being already out in the 3500, I decided to start the process so I swung by the dealer gave him the $200.00 for the stamp.
And finished the remaining $10.00 on the can.
So he has started the process, let's see if 8 business days estimated holds true (1 -4 August 2025 possible target).

Update figured I would have had the review from Silencer Shop done today. Not yet, maybe the 24th??? so I can complete conformation for submittal.

FINALLY a update in the portal 7/24/2025 :
@greengt88 you wont believe it... they told me to get a new photo, as I was too ugly and looked homeless...... LMAO j/king but yeah new photo the one I have on file they seem to have issues cropping it correctly. I'll knock that tomorrow.

7/26/2025 Update
Photo completed and uploaded Friday... SS sent to Dealer to submit late Friday after they (LGS) closed, Got the ATF e-forms notification as submitted on 07/26/2025 10:14 am. As always "trust but verify" logged into e-forms ... not showing as submitted, which makes sense it's Saturday. As I'm sure they will need to verify the tax payment before posting in e-forms. Should be visible I suspect late Monday or Tuesday at the earliest. I'm not rushing here just checking to make sure the submittal "doesn't fall through the cracks".
FYI I'm editing this last post for updates until approved.
keeps this thread from burying other post. As really now it's to the point that unless there is a error or something else. "Should be" just approved.

Well Gents the OCL is out of Jail...
submitted on the 26th (Saturday, NFA branch doesn't work on Saturday or Sunday IIRC)
Approved on the 29th at 8:23 CST via e-mail
so what 2 working days??? wish the earlier cans had been done that quick. šŸ˜‡

Now I'm setting here wondering which of the AR's to put it on LOL. I settled on the M4 clone (14.5" barrel first. Then to the dedicated PD AR at a later date) .
I'll run it Direct thread first. Before shifting to a Q.D. style mount maybe.....

Now the hard part do I brave the heat ?
a. cut the grass before going shooting or vise versa????
b. Or wait until a more suitable date to sit under a tin roof at the range???? (triple digit temps can be brutal at times, even if not in the sun)

Just a quick Pic of it on the M4 Clone ("yote/hog/terrorist")

Yeah that is a functional BAE Skeet/IR (clip on) in front of the inexpensive Leupold 1-4X. System works well.,
I'll post some results once a send a round through the new can. (the picatinny rail brass deflector is only on so I don't misplace it)

Yes Sir
That OCL does offer a "bit" more protection by using 6mm baffles and end cap size on that and the K version.

Which doesn't mean one shouldn't check it with rods, just a bit of insurance on their part for strikes. (the rod does sit directly center in the can)
Thank you for the reminder, keeps old men from forgetting the simple steps and checks.

@Widow maker 223
I like it a lot, although I'm sure there are now newer and better solutions.
That probably work better for hunting. Some even a better price point.
Dual duty as a monocular, or as a weapon sight, small format. Not really heavy (6.5 ozs), can do picture/video if that is your thing.
User interface / menu is pretty straight forward.
Very good detection range, only con (beside price point new, used is 11K to 3K depending on condition) and it's really that not much of a draw back is parallax needs to be adjusted when differing targets at differing ranges. Battery life is about 3 hours per CR123.

Coupling with night vision in a bino setup gives the best of both worlds. especially when the Skeet is in edge detect mode and the NV is on.

After my reply earlier I "was" going to go and put a round though the OCL with that rifle. Gathered everything getting ready to load in the truck to go to the range. But my buddy the "Australian Immigrant" decided to throw a fit so my daughter asked me if he could hang out with me. I don't know why but that Shepard always acts the best when he and I hangout. I would take him to the range but he would probably attempt to chase the bullets LOL. I could see that going in a bad direction quickly. Plus he hates gunfire, but I've not shot a suppressed weapon with him around he may shock me and be totally cool with it IDK. Oh well there is tomorrow Lord willing.

Welllll it's tomorrow... and the tractor fuel filters have raised their ugly head ... maybe I should plan next week LOL

In my other post today with the rimfire. I did drag the M4 clone and the new OCL suppressor to the range just to check it for it's "tone"
I fired a total of three rounds through it. The first two I fired from the bench, seemed loud, it dawned on me I was within the "baffle" area.
What Why a baffle you ask and what do you mean?
Because so many in the past have attempted to shoot over the hill / backstop at this public range. Which for the life of my I don't understand why, but it's a "some people's children" statement I guess. The State built a series of overhead barriers (almost to the 25 yard line) to prevent that. The results are now that firearms are now three times as loud. 300 win mag is now on par with a 50 BMG in decibels. (if ya keep doing stupid things, you will get a stupid response / action. I don't blame the state for this I blame my idiot fellow shooters)

Being the only one at the range I went to the range shack asked if I could move forward to the 25 yard line and just fire 1 round into the berm to see the tone of the new suppressor. They was agreeable, as they knew what I was referring to. I did fire 1 round and clear the rifle and returned to the firing position.
When I did outside the baffle area the result was yes the new OCL plutonium is a lot quieter than the .30 cal Silencerco Omega 300, I had on prior to buying this can.
The port noise is what was reduced, as well as the muzzle. I had figured / thought that I wouldn't be able to pick it up difference at the shooters ear.
The OCL I am very pleased with. I'll try it out a bit again at a later date. yep like the new can, glad I chose this.
